Hi, I was hoping someone has purchased a video for prenatal yoga or some sort of stretching exercise to do while pregnant. I have been trying to blog and search on other pregnancy website and keep getting the same "safe exercise" swimming, walking, recline bike etc. I have been reading the back of videos at stores, but don't "trust" that they are good...any suggestions?

Thanks!
J.

Mimi Solaire is a yoga instructor in the valley who teaches prenatal classes and has a video http://mimisolaire.com/video.html. To tell the truth when I got pregnant I was used to taking 5 power yoga classes a week so it didn't necessarily "feel" like yoga or a workout to me, but I will say that when I got to the 8th or 9th month it was a workout.

Add another check mark for Crunch Fitness' Yoga Mama. I found the workout relaxing and energizing...even on those days I couldn't believe I was able to get out of bed. Don't know what I would have done without it!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I had the shiva rea dvd, but preferred "Yoga for your Pregnancy" - http://www.yogaforyourpregnancy.com/.

I tried a few different dvds through Netflix before I decided to buy. Prenatal yoga classes really helped with back pain toward the end of my pregnancy.

I have this video - 15 to fit - http://www.15tofit.com/patreas-prenatal-for-the-entire-bo.... I used it during my first pregnancy as well as the Shiva Rea one that everyone recommended. This one was nice because it had a variety of workouts - not just yoga.

Hi J.,

When I was pregnant with my first in 2003 I purchased the New Method Baby and Mom Prenatal Yoga set. It also came with a post natal yoga DVD that you can do with your baby. I found it to be great for stretching and relaxing. I also bought a prenatal salsa dancing dvd that was a lot of fun and got my heart rate up just enough. In addition, I walked whenever I could and at the end of my pregnancy I was still in great shape and bounced back very quickly. I really liked all three of these dvds.

You might try finding them at the library or video store and checking them out that way first. Good luck finding an exercise program that fits your needs!

Hi J.,

I used the Crunch Yoga M. video while I was prego and it was great. Good excercise with out being too hard. They include some good hip stretches and such and I really liked it. I always felt good when I finished it. If you have netflix, they have it, otherwise you could try amazon.com.

Hello!
I hd a pre-natal yoga dvd by Shiva Rea. She is a trained instructor and a mom herself. While showing the excercises they also showed the necessary modifications the the position as the pregnancy progresses.

Have fun!

Hi J.,

I am a Pilates instructor and had to stop teaching during my pregnancy but I did find the DVD Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rea. She shows three different options for different stages in pregnancy. I found it to be helpful. It is a GAIAM product.

I hope that helps.

I recommend the same video that Deille did. I started it in my 2nd trimester and loved it. My husband found it for me on Amazon.com and it was only about $10 and came quickly. It is great because you can use it through all three trimesters because it shows and tells you how to do all positions as you get father along. I hope you enjoy it!

Hi J.,
I was given Postures for Pregnancy from Yoga Zone (2002). I enjoyed it for toning and stretching with both of my pregnancies. It also addressed dispelling pregnancy anger which I was experiencing but I never heard about exercises for dealing with it discussed before. Good job staying in shape!
