I had my baby August 10 and got my first period 3 weeks ago and still have it. It started to go away but came back worse than ever. Bright red and painful. Is this normal. I called the Dr on call and was told to take Motrin and call my Dr tomorrow... Stupid holidays...I am not breastfeeding and delivered him vaginally. I had the normaly bleeding for 4 weeks. I am on the nuvaring....

So What Happened?

I called the dcotor today and of course they called 2 seconds after I left the house to take Danny to the doctor(2 month apt) They said its normal because of the hormones after baby and the nuvaring. It should regulate after another cycle....yeah I have to wait like 4 weeks to see what goes on. ugggg. I am feeling better and it maybe tapering off. Thank you all so much for your kind words and advice.

I still have it!!!!! what should I do? I am going nuts. This maybe too much information but... I feel it coming out of me and I am crampy like its still week one. I am passing clots every now and then. This is not normal is it?

Have you decide dif you were goingto go back on any birth control? That helped me

I had my son on Aug 27th and I just stopped bleeding about 1 1/2 week ago. So yeah, it's normal. It'll stop and go for awhile, are you breatsfeeding? Cause they say that prolongs it a bit.

This is certainly not "normal" You should not be in pain. Did you have a c-section? The circumstances may be different. I advise you to call a nurse line or your physician immediately. Hope all goes well!

If your period is lasting more than 10 days they always recommend that you go to your doctor. After having a baby, there can be problems healing. If it doesn't look like or feel like a normal period, get yourself to the doctor's!! Let us know what happens!

M.,
I am sorry that I can't relate to your problem. I stopped bleeding about 1 1/2 weeks PP but I was BF so that helped to stop the bleeding sooner and AF didn't come back until 9mo PP despite still bf. I hope you will be seen by your MD bec something does not seem right with your bleeding. There was not much of a break between when your PP flow stopped and AF started which may or may not be normal I am not sure. The fact that you have been bleeding for three weeks does not sit well with me. If your flow is on the heavier side the whole time you may want them to check your blood count just to be on the safe side. I hope it turns out ok though.

Dear M.,

I don't know why your doctor isn't alarmed about this bleeding. You should call him back and let him know that your bleeding has been going on for three weeks and doesn't show any signs of stopping. I really think that he should see you just as a precaution. If he tells you to take Motrin again, get a second opinion, you shouldn't wait any longer on this.

Good luck.
