I gave my husband a tree for his first father's day for each child. That way he can watch the tree grow as the child grows. My 6 year old daughter knows that's the "Lyssie tree" and is very proud of it as well.
I was wanting a little help with a creative gift for my hubby for his first Father's Day. Any cute ideas or neat traditions that you can tell me about??? Thanks!

Hi K.,
Congratulations on your little one! For my husband's 1st Father's Day last year, I gave him a rose bush (our daughter's middle name is Rose), we do not have space for a tree. He loves it and she loves it too. I also made a book, just using my computer with 10 Things I Love About my Daddy ((I love when you smile at me, roll around on the floor with me, let me help you get dressed in the morning etc.) I printed a photo from the year on each page with the reason then used stickers etc. to decorate. The last page is my daughter's hand and foot print) I plan to do something like this again this year. Your husband will love whatever you do, have fun!
I am a SAHM to a gorgeous 19 month old girl with a boy on the way any day now.

I always did a picture in a frame for my husband. With my daughter I bought a kid-friendly stamp pad and put her footprints on a card with "Happy Father's Day" and the year on it. Just be sure and do the feet stamp on a separate paper that you then cut out and paste on the one to be framed - those little feet can be very wiggly and it is hard to get them looking good.
Another option that I did with my son (and included my daughter in the photo) is get a sheet of paper, write "Happy Father's Day" with a marker and lay it beside your baby for the picture. You can replicate this every year and you'll end up with a wonderful set showing your kid(s) getting bigger and bigger. And once they get old enough they can hold it and even write it themselves.
Good luck!
This is also my husbands first Father's Day. I took my daughter to have some pictures taken at the Target Portrait Studio (Really cheap with coupons off website) and I am going to buy a frame and decorate it (paint, stickers, etc) and give it to him. You could take pictures yourself of your little one at the park or in a garden or just a cute pic you already have...maybe of baby and Dad from the hospital.
Hope this helps
Dads are always easier than moms. First, restaurants are not as crowded. (Hamburger places, steak etc.) call for reservations though. You can even go in the evening to beat the crowd.
A cookie cake is fun. Go out for ice cream.
What does he like? The sporting good stores are always easy to find something.(new gym clothes, shoes, golf clubs etc.) A gift card to a favorite golf spot.
A photo mouse pad. photo mug. Even if you have not started you have a week to capture photos with him and your little one. A quick book of your thoughts of him as dad. A photo of when he first knew you were pregnant, to when he first saw his son to now.
What was your first Mother's day like? Would you change anything? What you do for father's Day will dictate what your husband does for Mother's day next year (SMILE)
You can start a tradition by taking a black and white picture of your son's hands in your husbands hands and start a little book so each year you put the new picture in to see how much he has grown.
My first son happened to start daying "Dada" all the time right around the time of our first Father's Day, so we got one of those photo frames you can record your voice on, recorded him saying "Dada" over and over, and put a picture in of the two of them together. my son is now six and gets a kick of playing the recording any time we visit my husband's work, where he has it proudly displayed.
