My spouse asked me to look into the pros and cons of relocating our family to Findlay, Ohio or cities near Findlay, Ohio. I am not familiar with the area so looking for feedback.

It may be best to describe the type of area my husband and I prefer...
-small town feel however you don't have to drive far to go shopping
-cute little downtown area (historic homes) with cute shops like pottery, small movie theatre, ice cream, etc.
-young families (our child is 7)
-local parades
-farmers market
-bike paths
-good school system
-newer subdivisions with young families

Thank you.

What can I do next?

I was born and raised in Mansfield Ohio, which is south and east of Findlay by about an hour :) We did play against them though at one of the schools I went to.

I couldn't tell you what their downtown is like anymore ... haven't been there in YEARS. But overall it and my hometown are pretty similar ... big enough to have some privacy ... small enough to have neighbors who look out for you and care about you. I'm sure it also has all the ammenities for shopping wise that you would want/need (target, walmart, a mall). There's a state park outside of Findlay as well as larger cities like Clevelend and Toledo not far.

If it's somewhere you are really serious about possibly moving there I'd take a weekend, make the couple of hours drive and visit the place. See what it's got that you might like. Talk to folx see what they have to say about the schools and so forth.

Be sure to do your research about job availability and so forth as well. The general area around that part of Ohio is pretty depressed with so much manufacturing and other jobs heading overseas.

One of my former co-workers did his student teaching (High School music/band) in Findlay. He loved it. He did, however, live in Bowling Green.

I use to live in Toledo, but that was years ago and long before I had kids.

I don't actually know any more about Findlay than what you could learn on Google. But I can tell you that Toledo is about 45 minutes north. They have a great zoo, a minor league baseball team, a minor league hockey team. They had a great science center, but for some reason I'm thinking it has since closed.

Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo are not far away! Great football games there! Big rivals!

I kind of miss Toledo :-)

That's really what Findley and surrounding towns are. It's far enough away from Cleveland that it's not too busy. May need to drive a few minutes to get to a large city. Findley is semi large but not huge. There is historical parts there as well.

Kinda the middle of no where. I have family outside of Columbus and it's very nice there.
