Find Cupcakes for School (SE PDX0

My son wants those cupcakes with the toy on them for his birthday at school. Turns out Safeway (on Woodstock) doesn't do that. School rules are that I can't make them (have to be store bought). Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your great ideas. While it was nice to see recommendations of local bakeries, it seemed wasted on a Kindergarten class (and St. Cupcake isn't opened on Monday, the day we decided on). You were right, Fred Myers (82nd & Foster) was much more accommodating than Safeway. When I reached for the cake book, someone instantly appeared to help, wrote down my order, dug around for alternate toys to go on top, and we were done. $12.99 for 24 cupcakes, as long as they're ready by noon Monday as promised, I'll be very happy.

can you buy little toys and put them on top of store bought cupcakes? There's a great party store - Lippman's on 2nd and ?? in SE (http://www.lippmancompany.com/) that sells all kinds of goodies that would be fun for parties. Good luck. A.

I would make them myself and take them in anyway. Nothing could be healthier than homemade. But, if you are not a rule breaker, St. Cupcake on SE Belmont and 34th!

St. Cupcake sells the little plastic topper things (as well as delicious cupcakes). I would give them a call to make sure, but they had them last I went in. www.saintcupcake.com

I would highly recommend St. Cupcake in NW Portland. Turn left just past the Mission Theatre on Glisan street (just after you cross over 405) and it is one block down on your right.

HEAVENLY CUPCAKES and perfect for little critters...they are bite-sized. I do believe they are qualified under the rules of preschool.

AMAZING deliciousness, let alone the fun trip it turns out to be!

Beaverton Bakery has them.

You can also buy little toys and stick them on the top. That is allowed:-)

Thanks, S.

You could always purchase the cupcakes and then go to a party supply store and buy the toppers he would like and put them on yourself?

Its not about being a baker or not a baker...you CAN NOT take anything home made to any public school anymore to avoid allergy concerns (and other more unspeakable things) from classmates. Everything must have an ingredients lable so that the teachers can assess any food related issues with other students.

Talk to the bakery person at Albertsons. They'll pretty much do anything you want including putting on any decoration you bring in from Party Depot or they have rings, toys, etc at the bakery

Both Fred Myers and Albertsons carries them. It's so irritating that we can't make food or atleast a healthier version of sweets for out kids any more ;o(
