Financial Assistants for Working Mothers Without Insurance.

There's a non-profit group called Little Angels. I think that they might have a website, but if not...call Parkland Memorial Hospital and talk to someone in their maternity/newborns area. The group was founded specifically to assist mothers in need by someone who worked there or may still be there.

Hi. I have the same situation. I am about 2 mos. pregnant. I called my ob/gyn and the hospital, if you negotiate with them (just ask) they usually cut a percentage off of their fees for cash-paying patients.

I checked most area hospitals. Parkland had a good rate that included prenatal visits, but you couldn't pick your doctor and would see whoever was there that day. Medical City (Forest/75) had a really good rate ($3100 for hospital stay, doesn't include doctors, anesth, etc). Baylor downtown is about $4600 for cash paying people.

I hope this helps, it's a difficult situation! I think most people will work with you. It's becoming more and more common. As far as help paying cash for the discounted rates, I don't know of any programs for that.

I'm not sure if this helps or is what you are looking for but I thought it worth mentioning. I'm currently pregnant and my individual health insurance does not cover any prenatal care either. I talked to my OB/GYN and she had a reduced rate for people without insurance or prenatal coverage. I then went to the hospital where I plan on delivering and they had a deal where if you pay in advance (over the course of your pregnancy) - then their rates are drastically reduced. My OB/GYN rates were around $1750 (this does not include a sonogram) and the hospital charged me a flat fee of $3450 (this does not include an epidural).

You may wish to visit Parkland Hospital in Dallas. this is a county funded medical facility that offers assistance to those who need it. This is a teaching hospital with no frills. But you should get excellent care. Best of luck to you.

I know that parkland has a policy that if you can't pay they can't amke you pay. I have insurance and I delivered at Richardson Regional. They were very affordable and the nurses were great. Also my obgyn (health central) has payment plans that you can pay up to delivery. In TX as long as you make a payment every month that is all that is required. I know some friends who have had their whole hospital bills written off because they couldn't afford to pay. Good luck!

I truly understand what you are going through. I am a mother of two boys, 5 and almost 2. However, there is help. I have found that Aflac, which is not really insurance, but it pays you when you do have to go to the hospital, and for a few months that you are unemployed to deal with the baby after delivery. It is very inexpensive, and I have found it to be great! I don't really know of any clinics, but I know that Parkland,and Baylor in Dallas helps out mothers in your situation. At the time I had my youngest son, I was in Ft Worth, and I received help from Hughley. There is hope, don't give up, and if you need anything please let me know...I also have baby items at my house as well, if you are interested.

I had this situation two years ago since my husband and I are self emplyed. If you contact the doctors early enogh they will give you a discounted amount (very good discount in my case) and start you on an early payment plan to pay all before you deliver. Let me know.

You may try Dallas Pregnancy Resources Center of Dallas. They have a few locations around Dallas. They are a Christian based organization. They may be able to direct you if they are not able to provide services directly.

Been there done that.... 4 times over!

I used Doctor's Hospital. They have an awesome cash pay policy. I think I paid $1900.00 for delivery room and 2 days for me and baby.

There is also Dallas Pregnancy Resource Center 7015 Greenville Ave # 100, Dallas, 75231 - ###-###-#### They can hook you up with a prenatal class and also they know of many places that can help you out.

Try St. Paul Hospital. I have heard that they will take you on an income based program even if you do not qualify for medicaid.
