I am so sorry you lost your baby. I had five miscarriages before carrying my daughter to term. I know the heartache you feel.

I had D&C's with all of mine. Sometimes I had bad cramping a few days later. The best thing to do is rest as much as you can. Your body has been through trauma and will need time to heal. Keep an eye on your temp. If it spikes, get back to the doc. If the doc did a sonogram or checked you and said you're ok that's good. There is no harm in going back to the doctor to make sure if you're not feeling good.

All of my miscarriages were between 12-15 weeks. Each was different in healing.

Take good care of yourself and rest as much as you can. My thoughts are with you.

Blessings!
L.

I have not been through a miscarriage & physical D&C - but I did have a medicine induced (hormone medication) D & C a few years ago and I had very heavy bleeding for a couple of weeks. I couldn't imagine how much blood there could be. But it appears to be way more than it actually is I think.

Didn't your doctor give you an idea of what to expect? If you still feel uncertain call again and ask to speak to the nurse. Often times the nurse takes more time with patients to explain, etc.

Finally, if you still feel uncertain someitmes the nurseline at your insurance company can help. I know it sounds strange - but many insurance companies have nurse managers on 24 toll free call-in lines - they find it helps avoid unneccessary ER visits, etc.

Good luck mama. It's a tough time anyway. I just prayed for your full recovery - emotionally & physically.

L.,

I'm sorry for your loss.

I did NOT have fibroids, but I have lost 3 babies - one at 12 week, one at 22 weeks and one at 16 weeks.

With all three I had D&C's done. With the miscarriage at 22 weeks - I had bleeding for roughly 14 days.

IF you go through more than one pad an hour - you need to go to the ER - and when I say "go through" - I mean saturate a pad in one hour - that's NOT RIGHT and it's NOT normal.

If your OB/GYN has done an ultrasound and says 'everything is okay' - yet you are still bleeding and having heaving cramping? I would get a second opinion. You NEED to rest. I can tell you that. I get that you need to get stuff done, however, your body needs time to recuperate from this miscarriage.

I wish you much luck and God Speed!

I have been through it - had fibroids that caused a miscarriage at 8 weeks, had a myectomy (sort of a c-section for fibroids); in my case, that didn't help as the problem also turned out to be with my eggs and we ended up adopting. BUT the fact that your ultrasound says things are okay is a good sign, and 16 weeks is a lot further along than I ever got. Unfortunately, there's very little that anyone can do at this stage - so try your best to take exquisite care of yourself. Sending good thoughts for a healthy pregnancy your way.

Had 3 miscarriages - 1 before myomectomy and 2 after. Only had D&C on 3rd and that one was the worst. I bled off and on for 3 months. Everything showed normal except my hCG level. It decreased very slowly. I did change doctors after that. Hang in there. I do have two beautiful biological children. My new doctor said it's a miracle because there was really only one small fibroid free area. I agree that you need to rest, with your feet up. Make sure you are getting up slowly.
