Have him assessed for pneumonia. I mean it. He doesn't have to have symptoms other than the fever for it to be pneumonia.

Please go to doctor ASAP! There are some very dangerous strands of flu going around. My daughter's doctor, during her visit for the flu on Friday, said that some of his patients have developed flu related pneumonia and have needed to be hospitalized. He said it is a bad bug going around.

Your toddler has had a fever that comes and goes for over a week, peaking at 104 and you are asking for advice over the computer on what we think the source of the fever is? With all due respect, get him to a doctor.

What does your Dr say? Is he/she aware of this? Have they evaluated your child? Why not?

First step is see the Dr. A fever only can be a symptom of many things.... pneumonia being one that could be serious.

I never would have kept my child at home and tried to deal with a fever of 104+. That can get serious very quickly. See a Dr today!!! Go to urgent care if you have to but your best bet is your pedi or regular Dr who has treated him and knows your history.

We are not Dr's here and can't diagnose your child. High fever is not something to play with and wait and see.

First of all, your son is 2. Secondly, I would have taken him to the doctor already. A week and a half is too long to wait and the fever is too high. What are his other symptoms? Is he eating and going to the bathroom ok?

Take him to his pediatrician, a walk in, or CVS minute clinic since it is Sunday. I wouldn't wait another day.

Can you add some info on what you've already done, what's been ruled out by the pediatrician, and what advice the doctor has already given? I'm assuming you at least called with a fever of 104.1. Are you saying you did not give Motrin etc. at 104.1? What other symptoms does your child have? Tired, cranky, coughing?

What tests/labs have been done, if any? Did the doctor listen to your son's lungs, check throat/tonsils/ears, and so on? Without that info, we're just guessing from a huge list of possibilities. You could help us narrow it down.

Please call your doctor's office. How would we know? I suggest that a temp of 104 should be evaluated by his doctor.

Well fevers break and their temp will go down, so if his temperature fluctuates - that's his body dealing with the fever.
I would take him in.

My daughter ran a high fever every night for 4 days in a row...during the day she was fever free and playing and eating like her normal self. On day 4 I happened to hear her cough (just once). I knew she had an infection. The doctor diagnosed her with walking pneumonia and prescribed an antibiotic.

If the fever is going up that high and has been going on a week and a half, you need to take him to the doctor. He is trying to fight something off, but is not succeeding. He might need an antibiotic and definitely testing done to see if he has something that can become worse if not treated. He's still little, so he can't tell you clearly what might hurt or feel off. Keeping him hydrated is a must as well.

He needs to have blood work done, when he's running the higher fever. Talk to the doc and ask him if he'll write the blood work order and send it to the hospital so you can walk in, front door during the day and ER after hours, and have them draw blood.

so your ALMOST 3 YEAR OLD SON (he's NO LONGER months, mama...he's YEARS...)
has a fever that won't go away? It's been going on for 10 days? That's about the length of the flu - however - if it's STILL there at day 10? Yeah - he should have a full blood panel done to see his white blood cell count, iron,

A fever of 104 should be seen by a physician. No delay. That can lead to febrile seizures.
