Give him what you eat, just chopped up smaller - he should have fresh fruit and veggies daily, too. (fresh meat instead of cold cuts which are filled with salt and preservatives).
My son is totally off baby food. He is eating table food but I dont want to give him the same things every day. He loves mac and cheese, chicken, grilled cheese, cold cuts (turkey, cheese and ham)..... Need ideas what to feed him...

My kiddo loved frozen fruits - you can get them in the frozen section in the store, near the frozen pie shells/desserts. Get the kind WITHOUT added sugar. They are like little popsicles. :).
He also loved/loves banana. If they are almost too ripe, I cut them up & freeze them (take a cutting board or a small cookie sheet, put a piece of wax paper on it, and cut the banana into 1 to 1.5 inch chunks).
He likes cooked spinach (we buy the frozen bagged spinach & nuke it), with a pinch of garlic powder and some parmesan cheese.
Slices of apples (you can buy them pre-cut) or those little carrot strings in the produce section.
Whole wheat english muffins or bagels or toasted bread, sometimes with a little butter or cream cheese, cut into small bites.
Cooked black beans, rinsed well. Chunks of cooked chicken (we make it and freeze it, then thaw some for him).
Applesauce- Musselman's and Mott's both make great no-sugar-added varieties that have applesauce plus berries or peach or mango or kiwi, etc. Those are great for "on the go"
Spaghetti with sauce, cut into very small bites. Use whole wheat noodles. :)
Sweet potatoes - most microwaves have a "potato" setting. Add just a little butter (the oil/fat in the butter actually make the vitamin A easier for our bodies to absorb).
Yogurt is usually yummy. You can mix some Grapenuts cereal into it for some crunch if he likes crunch.
String cheese, cut into bite size chunks.
I think the hardest thing for us is to try to make sure that we are all eating healthy--our son's healthy eating habits start with what he sees us eat. If we're eating a lot of fatty, salty, nitrate laden foods, then that is what he'll want. But if we put healthy choices in front of all of us, then he only has healthy options to choose from. Of course, some days we fail, but most of the time, we do okay.
One thing I like to do is pick a new fruit at the store, one I have tried before. Some we like, others we don't but you don't know till you try. Kiwi is yummy but I used to be afraid of that weird fuzzy fruit! LOL :)
Don't leave out vegetables and fruits.
Give him mashed potatoes, yams, fish, eggs (my daughter loved scrambled eggs and mushrooms).
Steamed rice and veggies like broccoli, cauli, squash, carrots, green beans....all so healthy. Introduce him to everything!
Best wishes.
You can try yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, sliced cheese, toast, fresh or canned fruit (rinsed and cut), canned veggies (green beans, limas, whatever you like---rinsed),meatloaf, boiled potatoes, fresh zucchini (almost no taste), cooked squash, spaghetti, ravioli--- basically, anything that is semi-soft and doesn't require grinding to chew. The more you offer him something new, the sooner he'll try it. Most kids will see something 8-10 times before they try it. He should be able to eat a bland version (leave off the butter, sugar, salt, pepper, onion, etc.) of what the family eats, as long as it's cut up so he can feed himself. Have a favorite on standby, just in case.
How about steamed veggies and fresh cut up fruit also. Cheese, yogurt, crackers.
If he is off baby food it is time to let him eat whatever you are eating and build a healthy eater now.
As most of the moms mentioned, fruits and veggies. If you can't buy fresh produce, purchasing the items frozen is 2nd best. For the veggies, we just steam them and chop them up small. My daughter LOVES tofu. Just get soft tofu and chop it up into small bite sized cubes. For breakfast, whole wheat pancakes and waffles are a hit. Add some fruit to it, and it is a great meal. Also, yogurt. Greek yogurt is really good for you and babies seem to love it. For dinner whenever we have chicken or turkey, I just grind it up in small bite sized pieces and she picks them right up. Good luck and have fun!
Hi C.
Are you afraid he will choke?
Eggs, toast, soup, cereal, cooked veggies just cut small or mash, and of course any of the dairy products are available unless you are having allergy problems which you didn't mention.
Breakfast cereal and milk, with juice. Just buy different cereals, juices or fruits.
Lunch if he eats cold cuts why not there is certainly a variety there. I always questioned the salt content but I am sure you are careful of additives in this case, cheese and different crackers, with milk & fruit. That is again variety.
Then if he is eating table food why not just give him what you are eating before you season it for Dinner. That's where cooked veggies, potato, gravy, and real meat chopped fine come in. Certainly enough variety there too. Get a small grinder so you can grind the beef, chicken, turkey, or pork you are serving so he doesn't choke. Watch him carefully til you are sure he is not choking on his foods.
Unless of course you are always eating chili, pizza and spaghetti or other more difficult foods to season late in the preparation time.
It gets easier as they grow up more and more.
God bless you and enjoy all the ideas people give you.
My son is a year old and I have just started feeding him table food as well. He loves mac and cheese and pasta so I would make him pasta with either a butter / milk cream sauce or tomato sauce with minced chicken and veggies in it and he seems to like it. I don't want to feed him the same thing over and over again either but it's so hard to try something new on him if he is eating what he loves already. My son is very cautious at trying new food so it's hard for me to get him to open his mouth to try new food.
My son also loves egg yolks so I would give him that for breakfast sometimes. How about making him french toast and dipping the bread in egg and milk mixture and sometimes my friend would add ham to it to make it savory. I also plan on making my son some fried rice with eggs and meats and veggies. I tried mashed potatoes but he doesn't seem to like the mushy texture. You can also try making meatloaf? I am trying that soon. I have a meatloaf recipe that I put oatmeal in it instead of bread crumbs so it's more nutritious. My son also loves to take bites of our pizza when we have it so I am thinking of making him my homemade version of healthier pizzas.
I do have new ideas of what to feed him but I am just afraid he might not eat it but I heard it takes up to 8 times before a kid will like a certain food.
Hope this helps.
My kids love it when I make mini hamburgers or taco meat with little or no seasoning, shredded cheese, homemade mini pizzas. When my son was 11 months old he had just enough teeth to eat very small pieces of steak and loved it too.
