I think I'm on question spree!! LOL!

i made cinnamon rolls this morning and the whole house has this DELICIOUS smell of cinnamon in it....and my two boys are smelling it and saying they want more...I love that!!

What's funny, is that I cannot go into Yankee Candle or other types of stores like that as my head just explodes with the different scents!

I love the new baby, baby powder smell....lavender....there is "clean linen" candle that I love too...I keep that by the front door. I don't light it every day...but I do every once in a while...

What are your favorite smells??
Do you rely on candles or other things to keep your house smelling nice?

What can I do next?

I've been enjoying the more non traditional candle scents lately--fig, cedar, chamomile, etc.
Apple.
Sage.
Saffron.

Not a huge fan of candles because of the toxicity of most.
Beeswax candles or soy are the best options. Paraffin produces toxins.

I DO like to boil mulling spices on the stove. Or use essential oils. Both are healthier. And I love to open the windows for fresh air!

I am not a big fan of candles and some of them smell too sweet.

I do like the smell of fall (up north), the leaves mixed in the crisp air with a fire (or a camp fire). At Christmas the smell of pine and peppermint. I also love the smell of lavender, tea tree oil and peppermint oil mixed, I use it as a spray to keep the spiders (bugs) out of my house.

I also love the smell of my gardenia plant that is just at my front door. It smells so nice when it blooms.

I love lavender and heather year round. I use candles and/or incense.

For fall I love cinnamon and apple scents.

I like pine and cinnamon at x mas. I also have a 'gluvine' mix I simmer often on the stove for the scent (as well as to drink)...It has wine, cloves, cinnamon sticks and a sweet red wine.

For spring, any flower that is in bloom.

For summer, fresh mowed grass and any flowers that are seasonal.

I love the smell of coffee (but only if I can drink it) as well as the smell of bacon cooking (but only if I can eat it).

Same with fresh bread baking - but only if I can slather a piece with REAL butter when it is fresh out of the oven! YUM!

One of my favorite smells is coffee brewing. I don't drink coffee but on Saturday mornings when I was a kid I would wake up to smelling my mom's coffee brewing. I am in my 50's now and when I spend the night at my parent's house I wake with a smile when I smell her coffee brewing. :)

I'm not a huge fan of candles but I love the linen candles. I love cinnamon smells and I love the smell of bread baking.

Enjoy your family and know your kiddos may someday remember the smell of cinnamon rolls baking and have a warm place for you in their hearts. It always serves to remind me that it's the simple things in families that bond them together.

Blessings,
L.

MMMMMmmmmm.... I love so many things, but the first one that always pops into my head is Fresh Cut Grass.

Right now, I'm totally digging the smell of damp, fallen leaves, as all the trees are dropping during the fall season. Walking through the woods is invigorating!

I love the smell of babies (ususally), freshly brewed coffee, garlic butter, turkey dinner, the ocean mist, rain, and Christmas cookies baking.

I don't use the candles anymore, with the exception of pine scented. Too many headaches.

So, to keep my house smelling fresh, I open the windows and pray the skunk visited someone else's yard!

I use to be that way 10 years ago (could not walk into Yankee candle stores) but they toned down the scents a bit and now I have no problems with it.
I like pine scented candles around Christmas and apple cinnamon scented candles in the fall.
I like the smell of home baked food - but to really bake it (and eat it) all the time just is not doable.
I love lilacs when they bloom - they only last a week or two but I'm out in the yard all the time shoving my nose into them.
In summer I like going to the beach and breathing deeply there the smells of sand and surf.

My house smells like bacon right now because I made BLT's!

I love Bath and Body and I use the plug in oils they have as well as my candle. I don't burn the candles all the time or daily but the plugins do give off a lot of scent.

My nose is funky with smells.... sometimes I will get a headache and have to give something away because it does not set right with me.

My favorites...

right now is Leaves from Bath and Body. LOVE the fall smell
Clean Linen
Cinnamon
The Beach scents that were out this summer were nice

I typically don't rely on candles. I LOVE the purple Pine Sol and I use that daily in my kitchen.

I love this question! I bake bread a lot, and the smell of baking bread has a lot of memories for me. I grew up baking bread with my Grandma and my Mom, and they both taught me how, so when I make bread, I think of them...I still bake bread with my mom. My Grandma used to tell me stories of her childhood while baked.

I also love the smell of real vanilla, vanilla beans and vanilla paste. Yum! I cannot stint the smell (or taste) of imitation vanilla, so fake.

Fresh herbs like rosemary, mint, thyme, basil or tarragon. We grow our own herbs in our garden (many of them winter over) and whenever I want a pick me up, I go out and pick some fresh herbs and smell them. They are wonderful!

Roses smell good to me. I often have vases of fresh cut roses from our garden throughout the house in the summer.

I don't do scented candles because they give me a headache.

I don't use anything like candles, air fresheners or those plug ins in the house and am extremely picky about the scents used in household cleaners and use all unscented laundry soap and no fabric sheets or softeners. My allergies can't take them at all. I can't go into those candle shops or even walk by them because it's too overpowering and my head kills me or I go into sneezing fits. I hate walking down the aisle at Target with all the Air Wicks and room fresheners and candles.

I try my best to keep my house as neutral smelling as possible. When I pick cleaners I stick to an orange or citrus smell, but not lemon or clean with vinegar. I do love the smell of Simple Green, but my husband really doesn't.

Favorite scents though are Mint, Vanilla, Rose and Orange. I love the smell of cinnamon rolls baking! There are those rolls of pre-made scones dough we buy at Sprouts that make the whole house smell amazing when we buy them. I love the smell of baking bread.

I love the smell of cinnamon rolls and the taste. There are so many scents /smells that are so good to me. I love gardenia's scent, I could just keep on with it. I love when the Four O Clocks put out their scent every evening it's like being in a forest of rich perfume. I really like the smell of coffee brewing.

I don't like artificial smells, gives a sinus headache. But I do use soft smells from candles. I use incense every day but I vary from a good one yet cheaper and another brand that just wonderful. I let it waffle through the house.

Yes, I love wonderful smells and there are a lot. Equally though I'm sensitive to bad ones. Not going there. lol

Babies. If someone could make a candle that smells like babies I would buy it.
I live in Phoenix and there is nothing like the smell of the Sonoran desert during a good rain. The creosote bushes produce an incredible smell that is unlike any other plant. That smell will keep me in Arizona forever.
Fresh soil is another of my faves as well as tomato plants in the summer.
Great question!!

How many can we have? I love pumpkin, vanilla, fresh cut grass, a clean man, clean babies, anything my daughter bakes, a clean house, spring, fall, rain, a grill cooking, and so much more!

I am big on scents. If I dislike the smell of something, it's horrible. Seafood and vinegar are two that do it for me - Easter egg dying is funny in my house! LOL....well, funny AFTER the fact. I literally get worked up knowing that smell will be there for a while. My husband can't cook seafood in the house if I'm up...so he either gets it out, or waits until I go to bed (and normally I'll go early those nights - twice a year or so) so he can cook it. Just makes my stomach turn.

I am with Katrina when it comes to air fresheners,,,, Glade, Febreeze, Yankee, etc....They only mask odors with adding harmful chemicals into the air.
Scary !!!

I do not use any of those TOXIC items

. I love my vanilla soy candles.

Recently, I bought a rose soy candle.

Sometimes I cut an orange open and leave it out for 15 minutes before I eat it.

I have a few essential oils, too. Treat yourself to a candle or essential oil from "Young Living"----so pure !!!

You can do a search on homemade cinnamon ornaments.

there's nothing quite as evocative as scent, is there? some smells send me spiraling back to carefree childhood. freshly-washed baby, my blue mare right behind her ears and on her muzzle, fresh-cut hay and mountain springs are pretty much guaranteed to make me moan aloud.
allergy-prone folks couldn't be in my house. i've got essential oils in the kettle on the wood stove, and candles for every season in most rooms of the house. i don't care for food scented candles, but right now the autumn leaf scents are predominating before i move into bay and pine for the solstice season.
someone recently told me in a kidding way that they didn't get why people love the smell of autumn leaves. i think their olfactory glands must be off. the sweetness released as the leaves fall, pile up and disintegrate back into the earth is one of my favorites scents in the world. i don't ever rake leaves, i just let 'em do what they were created to do, and enrich my grass.
okay, now i need to go out and inhale my barn, horses and hay and grain and yes, manure. i love it!
