I'm in the need for some great father's day gift ideas. We just had our first baby boy 2 weeks ago so this is new to me! I also just used up all my creativity since daddy's birthday was just a month ago.

For my husband's first Father's Day, I made him a book. I bought a blank hardcover book from the learning store and made up a poem about what a great father he is. I included lines about what he liked to do with our son and printed pictures and pasted them to the pages. I know you can make books through many of the photo websites like Snapfish, Flicker, etc. but I found this to be much more personal. His book started with this sentence, "My daddy is my hero(one page with daddy and son), he always makes me laugh(picture of son laughing), I love it when he reads to me(picture of them reading together) and holds me in his lap(another picture of daddy and son)."

One year we made him a t-shirt that said, "Daddy's Little All star" and had my son's hand prints painted on a basketball.

Last year we made daddy a stepping stone with the kids hand prints from a kit we bought at Michael's. It was a little harder to get the younger one's hand print, but if you were to do something like this, do it when the baby is sleeping.

This year my husband actually asked for something and that was to get our tv fixed. I think we will still make him something, it makes it just a little bit more special.

Have fun and congratulations on your new arrival!

If your husband wears a tie go to picture people or zazzle.com and you can make a picture tie of your little one. My husband loved his and still wears them often. My FIL wanted one as soon as he saw it so we got him one too. My dad doesnt wear ties but he does wear a bolo tie so i made him one too. They all love them. Another thing I did was asked him to paint his hand on a nice piece of paper saying it was for the babies scrap book. Then in a different color when he wasnt home I painted the babies foot over the hand print and wrote a poem about daddy helping him grow.

You can get even more ideas if you google fathers day crafts or gift ideas.

My husband is in Iraq and was only with our daughter for a week so i wanted his fathers day present to be very special, so other than an Ipod I made him a personalized fathers day card at snapfish.com. It had there picture on the front and a personalized message inside. Its an Idea, hope you and your husband have a great Father's Day!

We really like Create It pottery place on power and McDowell. They are in the corner of the Basha's shopping center and they have a ton of ideas and you could put your baby's footprints on a coffee mug or bbq platter. I hope you find what you're looking for. They are very helpful and have lots of ideas on their own as well. P.s. This is also a great grandparents gift place, especially if it's your first!

Here's a gift idea.... Give him a coupon book. What your husband will need most over the years from you is the knowledge that he still holds a special place in your life. The coupon book needs to be filled with coupons that he can redeem for special time with you. Think of all the places that you like to go together, activities you both like to do and then provide a coupon for each. Then your gift will be to find the babysitter and the where with all to make it happen for him. Trust me this is a very special Fathers Day gift. All Fathers need to know that they are still our Man!

I have a few ideas. Willow Tree makes some nice, meaningful statues. Before my son was born, last Father's Day, I got my husband the one of a father holding his baby in his arms, its very cool. I got mine at Hallmark. I always think pictures are nice too. This year, I plan to have my best friend take some nice photos of me and my son so I can frame one for his gift. Simple and sentimental is always nice! Congrats!

How about a coffee mug with the baby's picture, or a t-shirt with the baby's picture, or even a poster size picture.
Congratulations to you both for your baby boy.
God Bless all of you. A.

I take my two kids to "As You Wish" each year and have them paint a piece of tile and then put thier hand prints on them.

What about a photo collage of your new baby boy with some pictures of your husband as a child. We do this every 2-3 years for my husband and he appreciates it more than any gift you can buy in the store.

How about one of those digital picture frames for his desk with different pictures of you and the baby?

A great (and cheap) and fun gift we make each year is a stepping stone with the kids' hand/foot prints on it and the year. You can get them at Michael's. The kit costs about $10-12 and you can use the same mold each year. We use them in the garden (you can put them anywhere outside really) and they look so cute. My husband really likes receiving them.

for my husband's first father's day I made a photo album on one of the photo web site's. I think it was photoworks. He loved it. I found a variety of dad quotes online and assembled it in a night. It took a few days to arrive in the mail and he loved (and still loves) it. This might be a good idea for next years since your little baby is only two weeks. But it is a fun and creative idea.

They also offer other creative ways to express yourself. You can put your child's photo on a tie, or a coffee cup, or even a paper cube for your husband's desk. They have mouse pads, etc. Check that out, it might be an easy and creative fix for this year.

my husband has a lot of "things" and doesnt really need any more stuff to stash around the house. Our youngest son just left for college so we are kind of enjoying being alone in the house but the empty nest thing is creeping on us. It has only been a week since son left. We have always been very busy and I know that sometimes he is tired and still does things with my son and I. So what I have planned for fathers day is something that he does for me on a weekly basis. I get a bubble bath every tuesday. It has been our
alone time for the past few years. He sits by my bath and we talk and catch up. So on the evening before fathers day He will get a bubble bath, wine and canldes. this si what he does for me. of course I wont shave his legs like he does me but just a bit of pampering. The next day I plan to take our dogs( who usually wake him up before he is ready to get up) out of the house and to the park or hwatever. I hoe to get back mid morning to fix him breakfast in bed. I wont let him do anythign all day. just spend the day watching tv and napping. That evening we have a gathering planned with a few friends for a BBQ at our house. He usually does the cooking for that but I am hiring someone to do it. I also hired a girl that is going to culinary school to orchestrate all of the meal perparations so that we are just guests. I think he will enjoy it.

Hi! Congrats to you both! I used to fill something that my husband liked with stuff that he liked...i.e. I would find a sports can and fill it with tennis stuff and favorite toiletries. BUT this year they came out with DadGear...it's a mans diaper bag...Ok, so, well, a diaper bag for dad's day...It could be worse!? I thought that it was a cute idea. It looks like a cammo bag. You could always fill it with stuff that he likes. Like his favorite sweets (No, you cannot fit into the bag). A favorite magazine subscription, an extra shirt that he might need after the baby spits up on him.lol Fun things that he might enjoy. Good luck

The stepping stone idea from Michael's or Joanne's is a really cute one. A couple of friends of mine do it every year for thier daddies & I am also trying it out this year. I thought it was a cute idea & every year he can "see" how they've grown :) The daddies I know keep them in the yard or garden somewhere & cherish them more than I would have thought. A great idea to start now while your little one is still so little :) Also, Snapfish & Heritage Makers also have really cute photo books you can make if you have a digital camera it's really easy & fun... hope these help! good luck!

I just had my baby 7 weeks ago and its my husbands first, so I wanted to do something special and creative for him. that he would be able to take with him,or put in his office and have it for the rest of his life, (unlike some gift that I would have otherwise bought at the store and he would not remember it).

I made him a personalized story book with his favorite photos of our daughter and him. I am a consultant with a company where you make your own storybooks, posters cards and more with your photos and stories.

I know its too late to start a book now for Sunday, but you could definitely start one now and take and collect photos and make him one still and have it be a late Fathers day gift. Its very easy and fun!

Here is a link where you can see the one I did for my husband.(You might have to copy and paste it in your browser)

http://www.heritagemakers.com/?event=projectBrowse&pr...

Its a 5x5, full color book and once you are done creating it you click publish and send it to our home office and they print, publish and bind it and send it to you very quickly!

If you are interested in learning more about it or how to get started let me know! You can also look at my website to see all our products www.yourkeepsakestories.com

Good luck!
