Hi L.,
One year we made a t-shirt for my husband using my son's hand and footprints. It was really cute!

Does anyone have a creative idea for a special father's day? We will have a newborn so something manageable with a baby would be great. I would also welcome some ideas on crafts for a gift to dad. Thanks!

I have two ideas. You can do handprints on a shirt and write "Best Dad, Hands Down!" I did white paint on a dark blue shirt and it looked great. You can also decorate a container and fill it with nuts. On a large label write "I'm nuts about you, Daddy!" and have your son decorate it. Good luck!
We had taken a lot of pictures when our daughter was first born so I went to a website called shutterfly.com and I had a book made for my husband for Father's Day. I picked all of the pictures of just him and my daughter together and he loved it!
My husband made a comment to me one night after putting our son to bed that all the bed time books seem to be about mommy and child. So this year I just bought a few books that are all about father and child so that he would have special books to read to our son (who just turned 2).
Great website for craft ideas:)

:) Hope this helps!
I have one a handprint or footprint in paint and then had a poem or prayer around it and then framed it. It was sentimental. We have done things as simple as a picture frame that has something about dad on the outside and a picture of our son in it for his work.
What about a hand print? We did that for Christmas for my family and they loved it! Most craft stores sell kits that have everything you need.
Good Luck
I have an 18 month old, for Father's day this year I went to Paintin Plates on Bryne in Toledo and had my son fingerpaint a picture frame for him. I then wrote I Love You Daddy on it and will find a picture of my son and husband together to put in the frame. If you are planning on doing this you will need to go at least 2 weeks in advance since it normally takes a week for them to fire the item.
Well, not sure if this will help you or not, but we are getting dad a pair of Heely's for fathers day. My 7 year old already has some and this was her idea.
I bought a tee shirt and paint and on the front of the shirt I wrote we walk all over you then the date and Happy Father's Day. Then on the back I put their feet print and the year we did it.
Framed handprints and footprints works well :)
this is something I did for my hubby a few years ago when our son was a newborn. I found a shirt it said dad you're the best and got a few colored sharpies and traced his footprint on the shirt and the older kids handprints and wrote their names by their print, and he loved it. he still wears it to show off his lovely brood.....or you can get one of the footprint molds they sell at walmart....good luck
To keep is simple - upload some pictures to a sight like www.shutterfly.com and then order Dad a coffee mug, computer mouse, deck or cards - or whatever you like with the kids picture on it.
There is a great pome I found on the internet 2 years ago about father's and thier kids and what a hand print represents. I am sure if you search you can find it. Every year I print it off and put my kids hand prints under it, the next year we update it with a bigger hand print and put the new one over the old one in the frame, so there is a cute history of how they are growing.
