I would get a little black dress. Try White House Black Market. http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/browse/product...=
Hello :)
I need some fashion advice ~ my 20 year high school reunion (man, that makes me feel old saying that!) is this summer and I need to start looking for my outfit! It is an evening event (7 pm) in an indoor/outdoor atmosphere at the top of a building with a beautiful view. It should be a warm evening as it will be early Aug and probably in the 90's during the day and cooling down in the evening. There is no dress code and I am clueless as to what I should wear and where to shop. I typically dress pretty casual and when I do go out it's usually my favorite jeans with heels and a cute top, which is probably way too casual for this event. Please help me ~ what should I wear?
Added: I did email a friend of mine who is on the committee and she said they are not labeling a dress code, they are leaving it open for people to wear what they want/feel comfortable in. I'm guessing there will be a wide variety!
TIA!!

I LOVE White House Black Market. I have a friend who works there and she is my personal shopper. She knows when wothing comes in, if it is "me" she calls and I go try on.
A little black dress does not have to be too fancy but classic black dresses are great.
If you are unsure of what to get, many stores have personal shoppers at no charge who can guide you. I have purchased some things I would never have tried on if my personal shopper didn't push me to try.
Have Fun!
I'd wear a cute cocktail dress w/ a light wrap for your arms.
Have you ever checked out www.renttherunway.com? Basically, you can rent a designer outfit for a special event. They will also send you a "backup size" free of charge in case you aren't sure which size to pick. When the event is over, just stuff it back in the box and send it back (they do all the dry cleaning, etc). What I like about the site is that there are reviews from all kinds of women who have average figures just like us, so you know if the outfit is flattering, and for what figure types. Added bonus, when some snotty girl from high school says, "Oh, is that Prada?" you can say, "Yes, and the shoes are Jimmy Choo." Snap! (But you'll have spent $100 on the whole outfit - love it!)
Anyway, that's what I do now for special events, rather than buying something I will only wear once. :)
Since I don't know if you are tall or short, and what figure type you have, it's hard to say what to recommend specifically... can you add more details in your So What Happened?
I would probably dress like I would at a wedding.
I would get a nice dress. Dressy, flattering, but not formal.
I would hightail it to Macy's!
flat-out: don't overthink this!
Wear what is comfortable to you, what flatters you best....& sparkle from the inside out!
You could swap out the jeans for slacks or a skirt and get a shiny shawl type scarf or wrap and be perfect in any setting.
I would email the event committe or organizer and ask if it's more business casual, cocktail, or formal.
I think white skinny pants, high heeled sandles and some sort of flowy tunic top - with pretty jewelry and makeup.
OR dress to what best flatters your body. I have a mommy middle but the rest of me is pretty small so that is what I picked.
I think H&M has some stylish, inexpensive clothing.
J Crew.. has some really cute summer dresses. with some sexy heeled sandals..
I also love Talbots spring summer collections.
I would be casual and comfortable and nice at the same time.
nice sheer skirt or slack shorts with a sleevless top button up ?
Heels or flats. Spring color.....
I like Fashion Bug, JC Penny and Khols
since it will be so hot out and also that you say you usually dress casual.. id go with a cute sundress type of dress and summery heels
