Hello moms, I'm looking for affordable ideas, destinations to take a family vacation this year. We're open to all ideas, we love camping and outdoors, so we're open to all ideas from camping with tents, to cabins, rentals, anything that's fun that can be done on a budget. I don't think we want to drive more then 6-8 hours, that's already kind of pushing it with a 1-1/2 year old...
Thank you!

All of those are great ideas. Also Wisconsin Dells is great for the kids (although quite touristy). Saugatuck, MI is absolutely beautiful and they have terrific sand dunes there. Eagle River, WI has some fantastic lake areas (watch out for mosquitos though in the summer!). Hope you have a GREAT time wherever you decide to go!!

High Cliff state park near Oshkosh WI is GREAT! Lots of campsites, lake access, trails, and wildlife. There's even golfing too. In Oshkosh, there's a wonderful aviation museum too (EAA I believe). They have hundreds of real airplanes and a real airport on site. You can tour the hangers and even go for a ride in an open cockpit plane. There are many hotels nearby- we stayed at the AmericInn in 2006 but camped in 2002. We try to make it up there every year- that's how much we like it.
