Fairy Party and the Boys in Attendance

My daughter wants a fairy party for her 4th bday. I was going to buy wings as party favors, but I was wondering if the 4 year old boys in attendance wouldn't prefer something like a Peter Pan hat? I don't want to break the bank here. I know my son loves wearing fairy wings (and tutu's for that matter!), but he is only 2.

I would like the give the kids costumes as they walk in, that will then be their favors. Ideas?

What can I do next?

My co-worker just had this same situation with his daughter. He talked to her about the boys coming and suggested a Peter Pan theme or Neverland theme - I can't remember exactly. That way, they were able to have fairies for the girls and pirates for the boys, and ALL kinds of games based on neverland. I think they even had indian stuff, etc. Don't know if that will help, but if she likes Tinkerbell, she may go for it. Google may help you tons in this case.

For my daughter's fairy party, i used haloheaven.com to buy all the wings. I also got the boys king hats (just for the heck of it). It was very inexpensive. Hope this helps!

If you watch the Tinker Bell movies, there are boy fairies too so I wouldn't stess over it. If you can find Peter Pan hats that would be fine too. Another option is something of the pirate theme....think Neverland (as in Peter Pan, Hook, Jake and the Neverland Pirates). I recently did a Neverland Party (it was supposed to be Tinker Bell but she changed her mind because she's all about Hook and the Pirates and Jake etc). We did mostly the Pirate aspect but had Jake and his crew and incorporated the fairies too.

My daughter went to a boys party where the boys made swords out of foam sticks and cardboard handles and the girls made princess hats out of poster board (think big cone on your head) with a square of shimmery material attached to the top. Swords and fairies may not go together unless you make up a story about how they have to protect the fairies from harm or something, but boys and swords (or trucks) tend to go together well.

My SIl had a similar party for my niece when she turned 4. For the boys she called them woodland elves instead of fairies. She bought nerf-type bows and arrows from oriental trading.com She said it was pretty cheap ordering the off brand from there. She had a station where the girls decorated their fairy wands. For the boys she bough sheets of foam and stapled them into a cone type shape and stapled a little belt hook spot. This was their quiver to hold their arrows and they decorated that. She bought a few extras of everything. She did have one little boy who wanted the fairy wings and wand instead. The party was a big hit for everyone.

Peter pan, pirates, or gnomes would work. (Gnomes work in a fairy tale sort of way. I'm sure that a party store would have pirate hats.

You could probably make Peter Pan hats (which was my thought too) pretty cheap and easy. Just buy green felt (and a hot glue gun, if you don't have one), cut the pieces (I'm thinking it would be 3 or 4 pieces, if I was doing it), and you could also add pointed fairy ears (in a flesh color felt) to the sides :)

I wouldn't call it a fairy party or you won't have boys coming.
I'd go for the Neverland theme instead.
You can have some pirate things , some peter pan things, and some fairy things.
make it an adventure party.

At the Fairy Parties we had (And yes, call it a Fairy Party, the boys can handle it. )

We had Knight Helmets, chest shields and Swords.
Some beautiful and super cute photos at that party.

Hi J.,

You could just do magic wands (not fairy wands -- just sparkly). My daughter is having a ballet birthday party with lots of boys, and I got sparkly wands with ribbons attached for them to dance around with. Good luck!
