I donate mine back to my local optomotrist's office. I don't know what they do with them, but they do accept them :)
Has anyone ever donated eyeglasses? I know there are a million websites to choose from. I don’t want to send them somewhere just to have them sit in a box in a warehouse. I believe in giving your unwanted things, and no one would ever need anything. Thank you in advance.
Thank you all for responding... I brought them to our local Boy Scout troop...they are collecting them for children overseas.

I know that the Lions Club often has collection boxes for eyeglass donations. Personally, I donate them to our neighborhood Cambodian church because I know they bring unneeded eyeglasses to Cambodia every summer.
Doesn't the Lion's Club do that? You might be able to drop them off locally.

Contact your local Lions Club.
Also, your opthatmologists office may have a program that recylces them.
Lions Club! Our Lowe's store even has a drop box :)
They have a donation box in the optical depts at Walmart....Im sure they don't just sit there forever.
I agree with Elaine, Find your local lions club. I know they donate them.
I just take them to our neighborhood Ophthalmologists office. They clean them up and sort them then send them to a group that dispenses them.
I think a lot offices accept them, just call ahead..
You can donate to Walmart or Lenscrafters. I believe Sears opticals will let you donate as well.
