Yes, I've had the problem on and off. My eye dr. said is caused by stress/lack of sleep. Its annoying but it will pass.

Hi! When I had this when I was younger it was from too much caffeine...at least that's what the doctor told me. I cut it out of my diet for a couple of days and it was gone. Worth a shot! :)

I have had that before...it bugs! It is just stress. Do anything you can to relax and it will go away. Three boys and teaching is a lot to do. If there is anyway possible, take a relaxing bath, sleep in a little, whatever you may need. GOOD LUCK!

Hi
The most common things that make the muscle in your eyelid twitch are fatigue, stress, and caffeine. Once spasms begin, they may continue off and on for a few days. Then, they disappear. Most people experience this type of eyelid twitch on occasion and find it very annoying. In most cases, you won't even notice when the twitch has stopped.

Eyelid twitching usually disappears without treatment. In the meantime, the following steps may help:

Get more sleep.
Drink less caffeine.
Lubricate your eyes with eye drops.

Good luck

As I recall, it's due to the lack of sleep. Get some eyes some rest.

it's something that just happens.. It's called a fascicualation.. fancy word of muscle twitch .. it happens because of stress or not enough rest and either not enough potassium or sodium , muscle thrive on those two things most.. try a nap eat a banana and maybe a few chips and see if it doesn't go away..

you're tired, mama! lol...it will pass on it's own, but if you want to speed it up, eat some bananas. the potasium is a great way to relieve the spasming of ANY muscles... :-)

getting enough sleep? this can be from lack of sleep, or too much caffeine, which seem to go hand in hand :)

I had this happen to me and my doctor told me that I was drinking too much caffeine. But I do agree with the others that say it has to do with fatigue and stress which was causing me to drink more caffeine. Like a vicious cycle...stressed because I was tired, drink caffeine to wake u up!!! I just decreased my caffeine by half for a few days! Good luck, its annoying as all get out but no reason to cause over-concern!

Yes! This happened to me before! It lasted about 5-6 days, then just went away on its own. I think I was really over tired/stressed at the time. And then (really weird), it happened to my husband like 2 weeks later and same thing, it lasted about 5 days, then went away on its own. Try getting some extra rest if you can, because I think being tired or even stressed can have something to with it. If it lasts longer than a week, then you may want to consult a doctor (or before if it's really causing you problems). Good luck!

My eye would twitch like that every so often if I was a litttle stressed or overtired. My massage therapist gave me a great scalp and face massage and it stopped twitching. Good luck

I experienced this -- literally -- my entire senior year in high school. And it was very noticeable to friends, and quite annoying to me. At the time, I didn't know how to make it stop, and this was before the internet where you could do research. What caused it? Stress! I still get it sometimes. When I do, I increase my water intake, decrease my caffeine and try to get more shut eye at night :)

I once asked my doctor why my eye twitches from time to time. He said it was because fatigue or tiredness. He said get a lot of sleep and it should be fine. It was.

I've also heard from another that B12 helps. I know vitamin B12 gives you more energy. So may be it is lack of energy?

I've also been told by older ladies that if you take a chunk of hour hair, if it's long enough, and sweep you eyelid with it (close your eye before) it would make it go away. I've tried all 3 and they all work!! :-) Good luck!

Your eye is tired. It is really nothing to worry about, just a little spasm. It should go away on it's own.

Hi Anna,

My eye has twitched many different times through the years. I finally did some research. There were two things that I found helped. Usually the twitching occurs at a time when a person is not getting enough rest, but also increasing your water intake can be helpful.

Hope your twitchless soon!

Hi Annna,
I have had that happen quite a few times and it really is irritating. I was told by my doctor that it is a sign of low potassium (same for hiccups), and he suggested eating bananas. After eating one the twitch would go away in about 2-3 hours.
Hopefully this helps

that happened to me tooo! It would not go away. I had it for months. I went to the doctor and he told me that is was stress and lack of sleep. It finally went away on its own. No worries! Just get lots of sleep and have someone rub your feet and take long baths at night:)

Anna,

Totally went through this one! I agree with the first poster, make sure you relax and dial down any caffeine intake. I ended up with a prescription for drops, but you can go to the pharmacy and ask them what they recommend.

good Luck!

Hi Anna,
I'm an artist who specializes in painting miniatures, so I get this frequenly. I almost always get it when I look at photographic negatives. It goes away in a few days to a week. It's eye strain/over use or unusual use of the muscles surrounding the eye. Try to get as much relief as possible. Close yor eyes a lot. Maybe put cold tea wet bags over them. Or cotton pads soaked with witch hazel, or even just a cold damp cloth, or ice. Give you'r eyes a break.

Hope that helps!

that happens to me sometimes. it usually only happens when i get really upset and stressed. kind of like in cartoons! i thought it was funny at first, but it got VERY annoying. im not sure why it does that or how to get rid of it, but for me at least it wasnt a serious medical thing. it goes away when i relax and massage my eyelid gently.

let me know if it turns out to be something more than just a stress twitch!
