Extra Breastmilk Supply Options

Hello, everyone. I'm blessed to have an abundance of breastmilk. My frig and freezer are full. My newborn is three months old and my supply continues to flow. I've tried to contact La Leche with any options they can give me for my extra supply. I haven't heard back from anyone. I'm at the point where I need to throw some away to make room. I don't want to do that. Does anyone know of any options women do with their extra milk supply? Thanks.

What can I do next?

You could try calling The Mother's Milk Bank in San Jose. They provide breastmilk for sick infants, the community, etc. Their phone number is ###-###-#### or www.milkbanksj.org for more info.

Hi T.,

Call your local midwife or birthing center. Some of them have milk banks where they clean the milk and give it to babies that don't have enough breastmilk.

Wow thats a lot of milk. I would try and keep on hand as much as you can. Sometimes around 6 months your supply begins to depleat. I had a ton of milk in the beginning and less and less and time went on. I don't know what you can do with it but, that's wonderful that you have so much. You may want to try a company that sells it online or something. Maybe check the hospital NICU and see if they use it.

Hi T.,
I have a 4 month old and have a short supply of milk. I have gotten a friend's extra supply to supplement my little guy for a while but she has leveled out now and doesn't have any extra. I would love to take some of yours and, if my milk supply comes back up, I know that my midwives are often looking for breastmilk to help some of their new moms as they work on getting their milk up.
It is a HUGE blessing for those of us with supply issues when our baby can get all breastmilk instead of having to supplement formula.
Let me know if you'd be interested in sharing it with us. We are out of town now but would definitely be interested when we get back!
Thanks so much,
E.

Hi T.,
I just tried to send a message to you, but am new to mamasource and am not certain it got sent properly. I am responding belatedly to your message of April re: breastmilk supply options. I have been seeking donor milk for my newborn (a few more details are in the message I sent you, hopefully!) and would welcome further contact with you if you still by some chance have extra milk which you are wishing to find a wonderful use for!
Many thanks,
S.
