Extended Stay

Right now our family is currently living a part. We are in the process of buying a house and waiting for escrow to close. My husband is living with a friend while he works and myself and our children are living in Nevada with my parents. Basically this situation is no longer working. So we are trying to find any type of place that would let us stay for about a month. We have tried apartments but they all want a lease. The only thing I have found is the hotel extendedstay. Before we make a choice I was wondering if there were any other options.

Hi-Staying in a hotel with kids for that long sounds very stressful. Would you just have the one room or a suite? Our family gets cabin fever if we all stay in one room for more than a night or two. Depending on where you plan on moving there may be vacation rental homes, condos or cabins that aren't too expensive. We're heading into the off season and lots of people own vaca rentals that sit empty for long periods during the late fall and winter. Especially with this economy there will be owners that would love a full month of income and just might make you a deal rather than hustle to try to rent it out for a couple of weekends. I like the mobile home of trailer idea, my friends lived in a trailer while they built their house (for a couple of years!) and while it wasn't perfect at least you have your own space, kitchen and pretty surroundings. Try real estate companies that manage rentals in the area you're headed. Also craigs list is great for this sort of thing, lots of people would like some income and free house or pet sitting while they are traveling themselves. A little online research might pay off. Good luck!

Sounds like a stressful situation. Have you considered renting a room or two rooms from a house? Sometimes individual home owners will do month to month. Look on craigslist and see what you find.

Good luck!

I would call some hotels and see if they will offer a special since you will be there for at least a month. I know when my husband was working out of town his company go good rates because the guys were there for so long. I would not suggest renting a room or two, especially with two little ones. You just never know about people. Good luck!
