I am seeking childcare for my infant daughter and wonder if anyone can comment on their experiences with any of the YMCA's SE Portland centers (Y's Choice, St. Anthony's, or SE Center) or the downtown Market Street location.
Thanks so much everyone! We decided to enroll at St. Anthony's YMCA based on the good reviews of the Y system in general, our favorable impression of the staff, and the location. Many, many thanks again for the helpful (and reassuring) responses.
I wouldn't. For almost the same cost you could try Appleblossom, they have an infant program.
I can recommend the YMCA Market St. location. We've had 2 kids there, one infant and one toddler. The staff is nurturing with the children, and they work well with each other. The director is good and runs the center with her whole heart. She recently had a baby and he is there also.
LOVE THEM! My daughter attended St. Anthony's from 2008-2009 and we just recently stopped attending Market street as she started Kindergarten. She also went to the Sherwood and Amberglen Y's in the past and we loved both of those as well. The director's at both St. Anthony's and Market Street are amazing, but we really enjoy the teachers better at Market Street. Kelly (director) and her assistant, Courney are amazing! :-) Hope this helps!
Hi. My oldest attended Y's Choice Infant room and we really enjoyed it. Great staff, small class, and attentive environment. The communication between staff and teachers was excellent and I felt comfortable leaving my daughter there. We moved so when she left the infant room we transitioned her to a center downtown. When my youngest was born she attended the Market Street YMCA infant room. Another great experience. I was there frequently as I came each noon to nurse and got to know the staff. Kelly (Director) is great and very helpful as is Amanda (Asst. Director). Her teacher, Emily, is young and fun and really bonds with the kids. Rachel - another teacher is excellent. I also like the Wobbler Room - Savanah was the instructor. Overall another great experience! Feel free to contact me if I can provide more information.

My son was at Y's choice from 11 weeks through Pre-K and we have had a great experience there. The director Sheri is great and we had good luck with the teachers he had throughout the years. I know that each person has different experiences but ours has been great.
