My husband and I rarely ever shop for eachother for Christmas but I wanted to have something small under the tree for him this year more from my Daughter to him. I was thinking of getting one of his favorite photos of our daughter on a coffee mug but I am a bit skeptical as to how well they with stand the wear and tear of everyday use
Am I in for a big disapointment wit this idea? Will the picture just wash away befoe I know it?
Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

In my experience, and I've made lots and lots of them, they hold up perfectly fine. My son's grandmother still uses the ones I made her when my son was a baby, and he's almost 6. And she uses them daily, and washes them in the dishwasher. You'll be fine!

I got one of these for my FIL about 5 years ago - from Costco's photo center. It has stood up beautifully. My FIL passed away 2 years ago and so we now have it and use it about once a week - it goes in the dishwasher and it still looks great.

Also - Costco's photo shop also has a gorgeous photo calender - if you spend a couple extra $ (total was less than $20 per calendar last year) you can get the deluxe which is big and has beautiful glossy photos. Every year I get one for my husband and it hangs in our kitchen. I decided last year to make one for my office too - that's more scenic photos I've taken. I love them - soooo worth the money!

I ordered my husband a coffee mug with a picture of all our kids together and its still holding up. :) You just upload a picture to walmart account and can edit like you want to the mug. Get it sent to your home and think to your local walmart center.

I would stick with the suggestion of NY Mom below - there is a big difference, I think, depending upon where you buy them. I bought a few travel mugs a few years ago with my kids' pictures on them from some online place, and one trip through the dishwasher and they were ruined. You could barely see the photos anymore. I haven't made any since then because of that - but seeing that other people have had luck with Costco, I'm going to give that a try! I think it's such a cute idea!

My oldest daughter has gotten me a couple walmart picture mugs over the years. The mugs aren't the best quality so usually the handle cracks off along the way and the mugs are moved to display only on a shelf. The pictures stayed on just fine it's just a cheap mug.

I also create personalized travel mugs in my store. They are a bit pricey for some at almost twenty dollars. I had once a customer tell me water got inside. When they are made there should be a tight seal to prevent it from happening but it can. Many travel mugs are not dishwasher safe including the ones I create. Good luck with your search.
