My daughter has excema...I use aquaphilic cream which you can buy at Wal-Mart or hydra-cortizone that the Dr. gave us. You don't want to use the hydra-cortizone cream for more than about a week though. Good luck, I hope this helps.
My little sister is pregnant, and she is having major excema breakouts and all-over skin itching and rash. She is about 4 months pregnant. She has sensitive skin, and had excema as a child (she is 31). I suggested Sarna lotion, cocoa butter, and oatmeal baths which haven't wored well for her. Has anyone experienced this before, and what helped?

Hi M.,
Skin can do strange things during pregnancy because of the change in hormone levels. I'd suggest going with a more natural line of skin care, laundry, and cleaning products. I switched to an online wellness company that guarantees to not use any harsh chemicals in their products. I absolutely LOVE their products - they work better than anything in the stores, are SAFE for your family and the environment, and they cost less than what you'd spend in the store. Let me know if you'd like any info.

If you haven't already eliminated it as an answer, I would agree with those who say it sounds like Pupps (?I'm not sure how to spell it). If so, I think they are right in saying that medical doctors have nothing to help it, but I wouldn't give up. I did an search on it recently, because I remembered a midwife telling me after-the-fact that it was what I had experienced with an earlier pregnancy. She told me that she thought it was from hormones in beef and milk products. I never had a chance to test this theory, but I would read up to see what alternative health practitioners are saying today. They often have answers where doctors just leave us to suffer.
I would have her check with her doctor first, but Arbonne's products are wonderful for the skin. No mineral oil or chemical dyes or fragrances. Let me know if she'd like to try any of them and I can get her some. There is also an omega-3 supplement that has helped my girls with their skin.
Hope she can find some relief-

My first thought was are you sure it is Excema? I know you said she had it before but there are several pregnancy induced itchy rashes, some of which are serious. Please have her confirm with her doctor!!! If it is PUPPS, a non serious pregnancy rash there is something that absolutely worked for me. I had it with my first son and suffered with my second son I did research. I squeezed the juice of one whole lemon in about 8oz of water and drank that every day, you can add sugar if you want. It cleared in two weeks and as long as I had my lemon water it didn't come back!!
Good luck!
Many people in my family suffer from eczema and they found relief using a more natural line of skin care products. Sometimes it can be the chemical dyes and fragrances that contribute to skin irritation. For my son, the doctor wanted him in steroid cream but I tried Arbonne Baby products first and that solved the problem and we use them now and have never had an issue since. My brother is an adult and he has suffered his whole life. He is also using this line (not just for babies) and it is the first thing that has ever cleared it up. Congrats to your sister and I hope something works for her :)
M., if all else fails, try some of the youngliving.com products!!
I thought the same thing that Becca said, PUPPS. If this is what she has no lotion is going to work for her. If she's like me nothing will work for her. She needs to talk to her doctor if this is what it turns out to be. If it is just excema then I would try Cetaphil lotion and body wash, thats what my dermatologist recommended also CeraVe lotion and body wash worked and I've heard Aveeno for Excema works well too, but I could never find it any where.
Try Aquaphor lotion. It works wonders for my 5 year old! Hope this helps!
Hi! I have suffered with Excema most of my adult life. Pregnancy was tough! I recently started using Arbonne products. I was on a steroid cream just to keep me from itching all day long!!!! The Arbonne...Specifically the RE9 body serum and body lotion have been a lifesaver. I have tried everything under the sun to relieve the itching and nothing has worked until Arbonne. I also agree that certain foods contribute to the itching, so I have been very careful to watch my skins reaction to different foods. I usually know in about 2 hours. I am now ff the steroid cream and using only Arbonne. I have also switched to dye free laundry soap and dryer sheets. Well good luck, Congrats! and hope you can find some relief.
Does she have food allergies? Is it possible she does and doesn't know it? Our allergist said that everyone with exzema would test positive for some food allergy. It is possible to develop food allergies at any time in life... Then she would be able to cut out the offending foods and feel better. Our daughter was scratching literally day and night until we took dairy, wheat and eggs out of her diet, not she is much more comfortable. Best wishes.
Tell your sister to get herself checked for food intolerances and food allergies.
Eczema and other skin conditions are one of the ways a body expresses its displeasure with a food that it isn't compatible with. She might have to see an alternative doctor, like an Integration doctor or a Natureopathic/
Homeopathic doctor in order to get tested, as most conventional doctors don't believe that food can make a person sick.
I know it can, because I have 24 food intolerances/
allergies. If she gets tested and eliminates the offending foods, she should start to see a decline in her symptoms.
I experienced more of this after pregnancy but, I would definitely try Eucerin, Cetaphil, Aquaphor first. I know I received a prescription for Amlactin lotion which worked great but, please ask a pharmacist first about using it while pregnant. I do know it is ok while nursing. Hydrocortisone cream may not be the best solution since it can also be absorbed and it's a medication. Again, ask a pharmacist. I also have found that Mustela products for babies and mom's are AWESOME!!! They can be quite spendy but seriously they are worth every penny. These are hypo-allergenic and fragrance free as well. I believe you can find the products at Babies R Us and other kids stores. I even found some on-line. It has always cleared things up immediately. I saw someone else posted Omega-3. I agree!! This is great for baby and the skin. Also, consuming a lot of water is beneficial during pregnancy too!
are you sure it is not pups pregnancy rash?
She could try using Eucerin the thick concentrated cream that comes in a jar. It seems to really help and you can buy it over the counter.
I think Char is right on target in recommending she try omega-3 fatty acids. I know of several folks who have been helped by a nutritional approach to this issue. If she would like more specifics on what along these lines has worked for others, feel free to contact me. Please convey congrats to her!
My daughter has very dry skin and the one thing the really works for her is Aquafor. It is by eucirine and can also be used as diaper rash cream. It contains lanolin an is very helpful but their are a lot of great creams out there. Try vitamin e oils in a bath tub, or oatmeal. Candeula( spelling?) is good and avalible at Whole foods or another health food store.
I'd suggest an Omega-3 supplement. It's good for eczema...and good for both her and her unborn baby's health.
