Probably. They need to determine if she is developing normally... getting pubic hair and underarm hair.

"little girl" I would say is usually someone like 6 and under. 10 is almost a "tween".

Were they inappropriate? Did they use communication to tell you and her HOW and WHY they were examining?

So instead of asking the doctor why he/she wanted to do this exam on your child you decide to ask strangers on the internet? Right.

was this for a 5th grade physical? they check them for things to make sure she is developing the way she is supposed to at that age. I don't think my kids "butts" were checked lol but they do check things like the lower stomach to see if the uterous is where it should be etc. as well as underarms etc.

Yes. My 11 yr old just had her annual physical. They examined her private areas along with everything else. They check for signs of puberty.

I know where you are coming from. When my daughter was 12, the Dr. asked me to leave the room while he examined her. I sais NO. He did a general exam, so I was ok after that. But then he asked me to leave the room while he talked to her. The nurse stayed in the room. I was still confused, but I left & waited outside. I also knew that she would tell me what was going on because she told me everything. She came out laughing. He asked her if she was sexually active & if she thought she could be pregnant. She laughed in his face & told him she was having triplets. We changed doctors. She is now 34 yo with a 7 yo son. Guess he was WRONG. If you have a "feeling" about this Dr., go with your gut reaction & change doctors. Maybe you both would feel better with a female doctor.

No, my daughter is 11 and for her physical, she did not need to undress and the dr. merely took a quick peek down the front of her pants, not all over as you describe. Perhaps your daughter is showing signs of advanced puberty which prompted the scrutiny.

I would think that this is normal. Did the doc want to see her alone? Were you in the room? Was anyone else in the room?

Did she get bare butt naked and just sit there without the benefit of those wonderful paper garments we get to wear when we are grown up?

I think that these days docs understand that some 10 year old kids are out having sex on a regular basis. I would rather know about this before they do it but in this case, if it was her yearly physical and not just a sore throat exam then I'd be fine with it.

No it isn't normal. The doctor should never look at their patients.

Was it for a physical? I have always had to undress for a physical, as do my kids.
