I am currently pregnant and due in Sept. with my second child and know that I do not want anymore children so I am seeking a permanent form of birth control and considering the Essure procedure. I am familiar with the actual procedure, so I am wanting personal testimonials good and bad of your experience especially any side effects you may have had since the procedure. Anybody out there that has had it done personally or know someone with an experience to share I would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Right after birth, your tubes are readily accessible. Talk to your OBGYN about getting your tubes tied. They can go in through your belly button and it is easy and minimally invasive.

I had the procedure done over 3 years ago. I was REALLY sore for about a day after, but after that I have had no side effects from the procedure. I would recommend it to anyone, and even told my sister she should check into it.

My sister had it. No problems. I had my tubes tied. I am thinking I would have rather had the essure. Seems to be more effective. Didn't realize so many women got pregnant after tubes tied.

Traci,

I have had the essure done and I am so glad that I went this route. I was soar on my right side for about a day, but I was able to go back to work the next day. Periodically I had a tad bit of pain on the right side, but after 3mths I had no more problems. My doctor did tell me after the procedure that I would probably have a little pain on that side due to him putting in a little more. I recommend this over the alternative surgery which you could be out of commision for days. If it is a money issue make sure you check with the doctors office and the insurance. I was a little mislead and now I am paying more then I had anticipated. Not to happy about that for sure. Good luck and Congrats on your second baby.

I had the procedure done about a year and a half ago. I have had absolutely no problems what so ever. After the surgery, I was told to take some Tylenol every 4 hours or the doctor would prescribe me some pain medicine. I just needed one dose of Tylenol, and I was good to go. I had the procedure done on a Friday afternoon and then I was at church all day Sunday then back to work on Monday. Best decision that I ever made! No pain, no problems. Since I had already given birth a few months before, I had already meet my deductible. The surgery didn't cost me a penny more.
