Espresso Machines - Starbucks

Hi All,

My husband and I are full fledged Starbucks-aholics. One of us goes every morning. The bottom line is it makes me sick to think about how much money we spend on coffee! Has anyone broken away from Starbucks and bought their own machine? At the rate we're going it would pay for itself in a very short amount of time if you ask me. We're looking for feedback on machines. I have to run now - all this coffee talk is making me want a cup of coffee :-)

What can I do next?

A friend of mine got a machine from Starbucks as a gift, seemed to be more of a personal espresso machine (size of a coffee maker). I cannot remember the name of it. She hated it because it leaked. She ended up returning it and got a very large gift card since she didn't have the receipt. I think a neighbor of my mom has a Krups and have not heard a complaint.

We used to have a Krups, it worked great but seemed too labor intensive to clean. They may have improved since that was nearly 10 years ago. I gave it away because we didn't have the counter space for it. Shop around, even look on eBay for a new one, especially with tax at 10% now!

I have an espresso maker from starbucks and absolutely love it. I use it everyday and could not be happier. It was on sale at starbucks when I got it and was well worth the price. My brother got one of the fancy "does it all by itself" countertop machine and also loves it.

I love my espresso maker, and even had a friend who used to work at Starbucks show me "what to do". ABSOLUTELY worth it, and it did pay itself off. My husband was complaining that I was not allowed to complain about gas prices when I was buying "coffee" at $5 per cup. He also made me choose between gas for the car or coffee for me because we couldn't afford both. LOL! I've even veered away from buying Starbucks coffee beans and have found cheaper and better whole roasted beans which I now use. I was looking into one of those "do everything" machines, where you only have to put your cup on the tray and push a button, but decided that I kind of enjoy doing some of the work. Now mine does automatically grind the beans into the cup for me , but I have to steam and froth myself. It's my morning ritual and It really (oddly) relaxes me. It's truely an artform; one that's not too hard and fun to master.
