Ergobaby Carriers

Good morning!
Here I am again, seeking wisdom from the moms and dads on mamapedia! :)
I am looking for a new baby carrier, and came across the Ergobaby carriers. They seem great, I love that they can be used front, side, and back. I don't see any downsides, but I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience with them, and if so, did you like the Ergobaby? Are they worth the money? We currently have an original babyBjorn, but he is almost six months old and weighs about 21 lbs. It's getting to be a pretty tight fit, and I really would appreciate something a little more comfy for him and myself as well. He loves being carried around in it (prefers that over being strolled around in jogger hands down!). I've loved the Bjorn, but now that he is bigger, it's starting to take a toll on my upper back/shoulders, and like I said, it's getting pretty snug for him. We also use a wrap around the house, but I prefer a carrier when we are out doing some serious shopping or touring :) Thanks in advance for your help!

What can I do next?

I have one but only really love it for really young babies and older toddlers. In the middle my kids wanted to face out. I could never stand the Bjorn so for awhile I would use a Moby till they were to heavy for that. For older toddlers I love the Ergo on my back. In the middle ages (8mo - 18mo) I liked ring slings the best for a hip carry. Ergos are very comfortable. The weight is on your hips rather than your shoulders.

I love it. It's the only one that works with my back injuries. I got mine used, went through two kids for a total of about 4 years of baby carrying. I gardened with it, mowed the lawn (reel-to-reel, not a power mower) with it, did everything. Awesome carrier.

Love mine. Used one for firstborn until I misplaced it. Someone (not me) packed it away and it met an unfortunate end thanks to the mice in our attic. I decided to get the Ergo Sport second time around. I didn't think it was possible to love Ergo more, but I do. Definitely the way to go and so worth the mobey even if you can't find one used.

I love my ergo. I got it when my son was about a year old and I wish I had bought it earlier. He's now 2 and 30 lbs and I can still carry him in it comfortably. At 20 lbs the bjorn was killing my back, but the ergo is much better about distributing the weight to your hips. So at 30 lbs he sometimes hurts my legs, but I never have back problems from carrying him. The only downside that some people have mentioned to me is that they can't face out, but we've never found this to be a problem.

Love, love, love my Ergo--my husband and I frequently comment that it was the best purchase we made for our daughter (now 3). I had a Bjorn Active and by the time my daughter was 5 mos, it hurt my back so much that I bought the Ergo. Seriously, I could carry my daughter around the zoo all day and the Ergo doesn't hurt my back at all (35+ pounds). Now I only break it out when we need to hoof it across the parking lot or weave our way through a crowd/event but I keep it in my trunk, just in case. I can't wait to use it with #2 when he arrives in August.

It works from infant to preschooler--so if you divide the cost by the number of times you'll use it over the next 1-2 years, it's pennies per use.

I love my Ergo carrier. Before I got the Ergo, I had also used a Baby Bjorn, mei tai, and two different pouch slings. The Ergo is by far the easiest and most comfortable.

I got mine used. I have used it with two kids, and I have also let my friends borrow it for their kids. It is still in great shape! I'll probably even be able to sell it for close to what I paid for it when I'm done with it.

I highly recommend it. It looks like all the other carriers out there, but it is just so much more comfortable for mommy and baby. It's worth the splurge, like a good stroller or pair of shoes, if you use it all the time.

Love my Ergo. We also used a Bjorn a lot until recently (my dd is 8 months but very petite at only 16 lbs!) I also liked the front/back/side feature and so far we both really like it! I also love the front zip pocket, I use it in the grocery store, running errands etc. and put my wallet in there and don't need to carry a purse at all. It must be comfy for her too becasue she laid her head down on my chest and took a snooze the other night while we were at by older child's T ball. She is my 3rd child and I wish I would of had one for my other two.
