You could try the www.starfall.com. Very entertaining. Plus if she likes crafts she could make bracelets with those kits or any other craft is a box. Easy and entertaining.
My almost 4 year old broke her leg and can not stand on it for atleast 1 week and probably more. We see the ortho doc next week to see and get a cast. I think she is going to get tired of tv and looking at books. Any ideas for games or fun things. She is very active and loves to help take care of her 17 month old brother.
Thanks for the help.
Great news.
The doctoor said that she probably does not need surgery. She needs to be in a cast and off her feet for 5 weeks and then he will take more x-rays. she has learned to move now that she has the cast on and her leg is more protected. She has really gotten into Barbies and cars. Thanks for your support, and advice.

Oh J.! I'm so sorry. We've been there and done that twice. All the recommendations have been great so far. My girls (3 and 7) both love the ColorWonder coloring books and paper. Your 17 mo old could join in, since it wouldn't be mess. I love them! And aquadoodle has all kinds of inexpensive coloring sheets too. Again, your younger one could join in. They have both of them at Walmart...either in the front by the books, or in the toy section on the crafts aisle.
Good luck! I'm sure she'll be getting around great soon. You would be surprised what can be accomplished in a cast. It's worse on us mommies than it is on the kids.
My daughter just turned 5 and loves playing on nickjr.com, disney.com and starfall.com. There are lots of games to play on the 1st 2 sites, but starfall.com is awsome because she actually learns how to read there!
Hope this helps!
Oh I am so sorry!
Plano Super Bowl (and possibly other bowling allys - call ahead & check) have a ramp to where people in wheelchairs can push a bowling ball down the lane.
My friend's 2 1/2 year old boy broke his femur, & he was in a cast from his chest to his ankles for 8 weeks. They put him in a stroller umbrella around the house with a rigged tray on it. They would put toys, games, coloring books, etc. on it for entertainment. That way they could wheel him around.
They also rigged some sort of sling chair for him to sit in to watch movies in & play in.
BTW, my friend was 7-8 months pregnant at the time, & her son is a twin. Very pregnant, twin toddlers, body cast--8 weeks of he**.
She survived, you can too!! :)
I am so sorry to hear that J.. My son broke his leg when he was 5 and was in a body cast for 4 after he got out of spending 3 weeks in a hospital bed. I think it is way harder on us sometimes then it is on them. My son was in a wheelchair. He loved playing board games, doing word find puzzles, playing games on disney. com or nick.com, and sitting and reading to his younger cousin that was 1 at the time. It gets easier I promise. You and her are in my prayers.
Poor thing! I have a son who is almost 4yrs old, I can't imagine him not being able to run around like his normal self! I make I Spy Bags and sell them online, I think they would be perfect for her! It's a fun little game that should keep her entertained for a while. I can even put the letters of her name inside the bag for a fun search. Here is the direct link to the I Spy Bags that I make:

To help move her around the house if you have a wagon they work great cause she'll be able to elevate her led easier and less lifting for you. Kids that age love playdoh, making crafts, drawing pictures, etc. You can get craft ideas that are easy and inexpensive off the web.

And if you do have a wagon it will make taking her outside easier and the 17 month old can help pull or push her. She can still help with the little one by playing something as simple as peek-a-boo or stacking blocks with him.
My son loves board games. We have had a closet full of them since he was 3. It helps him learn his letters, colors, numbers, etc. I know you probably don't have much time to invest in sitting there for hours to entertain with a 17 month old so another idea is a V-smile. They are a little pricey but they are very educational which it the only reason I let my brother-in-law by it for my son.
