Hi Moms,
I am looking for chapter books for my 7 year old son. He enjoyed the Junie B series but I am having some difficulty finding similar adventurous chapter books that boys would love. Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
V.
Thank you so much everyone for your great feedback. We're going to the library today so I will keep you posted on what he decides.

As a 2nd/3rd grade teacher I would say what has been popular (depending on child's reading level) Pee Wee Scouts, Magic Tree House, Goosebumps, Captain Underpants, any superhero book.
In general, though, boys prefer to read nonfiction. If you're just trying to get him interested in reading, find out what his interests are and look for books about that theme. Boys love books about animals, space, sports, bugs, cars.
Good for you for fostering a love of reading!
My 7 year old son just loves the Aldo Zelnick series books (by Karla Oceanak and Kendra Spanjer)!
My 7 year old son much prefers non-fiction to fiction. Right now he's really into a series called I Survived. There are several books - I Survived the Attack on Pearl Harbor, I Survived a Shark Attack, I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic. He also has a series of 4 books on the Titanic that he loves, but I don't know what the series is called, something about the Titanic, I'm sure. :)
Big Nate, Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
My son (8.5) really likes the Baseball Card Adventure series by Dan Gutman. And the Weird School series as well.
Wow! You've gotten a lot of good suggestions so far. I just want to add the Marvin Redpost series by Louis Sachar. My son just turned 8 and had also enjoyed the Junie B. Jones books. We found these and he loves them.
The Secrets of Droon. I buy them on Amazon (haven't found them locally). My daughter LOVES them (she is in 2nd grade).
Depends on your parenting style, My 8 yo reads Diary of a Whimpy kid and loves them, BUT they are about a middle school age boy and how he tries to impress girls, along with alot of potty humor and a stoner older brother and very weird neighbors I wish i had known that and waited a few more years.
I think the Ron Roy books are great. We love A to Z mysteries and even get the books on Cd from the library and listen to them.
There is a Jigsaw Jones that is pretty cool.
If you are into the potty reading, like Captain underpants, there is a Cave man thing called OOk and Glook that kids like.
My son loves getting DC comic easy Chapter books from the libarary and reading about superman and the other heros. He also reads alot of pokemon (blech).
There are some dog books that might be good like Old yeller type classics.
That reminds me DS's other fav series is Ellen Miles the Puppy Place books, about fostering different breeds of puppies the main character is a boy around that age.
my son loves the magic tree house series by mary pope obsorne.
give them a try!
My son loved the Black Lagoon Adventures by Mike Thaler! He's now reading the Stink series by Megan McDonald! He's just about finished the series and then it will be time to find another one!
R.L. Stein- Goosebumps, and Geronimo Stilton(the main character is a mouse) seem very popular.
adventurous books that appeal to both boys and girls include
Magic Treehouse books by Mary Pope Osborne
A to Z Mysteries, Capitol Mysteries, and Calendar Mysteries by Ron Roy
Wayside School books by Louis Sachar
My son likes the Horrible Harry series of chapter books. They are about a 2nd/3rd grade classroom, and tell about their adventures from the point of view of one of the boys in the class (Harry's best friend).
The mouse and th emotorcycle
runaway ralph
percy jackson
another vote for magic tree house
another Magic tree house vote...
Also my son (6) loves Ricky Ricotta and the Mighty Robot
My son liked the Horrible Harry books, the Frog and Toad chapter books, and Captain Underpants (Underwear?).

My son is a bit older than yours but he's really enjoyed the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books for several years though I really can't remember how old he was when he started reading them.
the magic tree house books
Hank the cow dog series (my son used to bust out laughing out loud)
horrible harry books
the box car children books
the magic carpet series
I second the Goosebumps series as well as Captain Underpants.
Harry Potter, second to the Magic Treehouse books, Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web, the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary, Tom Sawyer, the Paddington Bear books. These would all be appropriate for a child of either gender.
