I realize this is extremely early to be inquiring about this but I was curious what others have done. My son is finishing up his 3rd year of preschool. He is autistic and attends an autism preschool. The three teachers and two therapists who work with him have helped him immensely. Being that this is his last year at the preschool we would like to show our gratitude. I realize this isn't easily done for all the hard work they have done with him. I welcome any ideas and input on what to give or things to do for them. Thank you all in advance :D

ETA: My son is nonverbal/minimally communicative but I did love the idea of paintings for each teacher. My budget is not tight but at the same time I do have 5 very different women to buy for in greatly varying ages, mid-20s to about 60. Sorry I didn't includes this in the original post.

What can I do next?

Most of all, with whatever gift you give them, write a handwritten card, on how much... you have appreciated them as teachers?Therapists for your son.
Not a generic written note. But a heartfelt written note for each individual Teacher/Team that has helped your son.
A different one written for each Teacher, but all written without favoring one or the other.
It can be done. I have once written 5 different "thank you" notes, for my son's Teachers. All different notes, but all fair with similar sentiments... just in case the Teachers show their notes to the others.

Give them a photo of your son, with you and your Husband.
In a frame.
Along with the note.

Or, www.kodakgallery.com has GREAT photo gifts.
I have gotten things from here often, for my kids' Teachers, along with a handwritten note from our family.
The teachers, have always appreciated it, very much.

Not knowing your budget, that is tough... however, I would think something small for each teacher, and then get something for the classroom that other children could use would be appreciated. Frequently those preschools have a "wishlist" of toys/supplies they would like to have.

The 31 bags are a great idea and if you go online now at Thirtyonegifts.com you can order the thermal lunch totes for about 1/2 off. I give one every year to the teacher, a great thing they can use over and over as they bring their lunch or go to sports events with their kids, or at the pool, etc Personal and cute and useful.
I also sometimes give a coffee mug, a tervis or thermal kind that keeps it hot along with a starbucks gift card. sometimes a goodie bag of gift cards, even if only $5 each and total $20 it is fun.
this year I got a great necklace that I LOVE from one child.
last year I got a pool/beach bag filled with a towel, thermal cup, koozie, lotion, etc for the pool over the summer.
I like the lunch idea for them too. Our parents do that for us once a month, we love it!

My girl friend bought her daughters teacher a 31 bag for christmas. I guess these are At home party type deals so a pretty pricey bag. but she got a great deal wtih something she was already going to buy so it wasn't as much as you would think.

i've heard of people getting Coach bags for the lead teachers in wealthy areas. i'm sure that will make people fall over, but some people just like to give gifts and in my opinion Who better to show your appreaciation to.

i always think it' helps if you know the teachers likes, or hobbies. when i taught preschool, again wealthy neighborhood, I had a student that didn't celebrate the holidays but at the end of the year Mom wanted to show her appreciation, she knew i liked stamping and making my own cards, She bought a Longaberger basket and Filled it with rubber stamps and supplies, IT WAS AWESOME! 14 yrs and i still remember that little guy and this lovely lovely family, they were very involved in his education and sooo suportive, i would have remembered them regardless, but it bowled me over to know she took the time to find somethign that i would love.
obviously with all the teachers your son has you might not want to go that big but i hope you get my point that the gift was personal.

Providing Lunch for the teachers or heading a group of parents to help with that might be a lovely idea, you could have it catered or other mom's join you for a potluck. tableclothes and flowers in the teachers lounge would be so fun.

one last idea. when my own son was in preschool, I had him water color on some nice heavy paper I really let him soak up the colors so they were very vibrant, I also had him draw each of this three preschool teachers separately and dictate to me what he enjoyed most about each of them, One loved science, one tended to be more musical and one helped him with his art projects. I mounted his drawing on to the water color paper and bought frames for each. If they chose not to keep it as a momento they could always use the frame for their own picture. Depending on your sons ability you could use a photo of him, or you could even buy a frame that lets you record a brief saying and have him say " THANK you Ms So and So for helping me to hold my pencil or what ever."

Anyhow, I think you are so nice to be thinking about this early. I hope you find the perfect thing!

A couple of ideas, gift certificates at teacher stores, spas, or for small luxury items they wouldn't buy for themselves, small jewelry typical of what they wear, or books they can use in the classroom.

Preschool teachers do not make a lot of money. Buy or give them gift certifcates for something they would never give themselves. Small luxuries mean a lot!

We have always gotten my daughter's teachers a Kiva gift certificate at the end of the school year. If you aren't familiar with Kiva, it's Kiva dot org. You help finance micro loans around the world $25 at a time. Great concept and very rewarding.
