I'm confused. Jack the Elf is to monitor your son's behavior, but Jack's behavior is not acceptable itself? Hmmm. . . .I'd be afraid that the elf would give your son ideas of his own! :)
Santa sent my son and elf on the shelf today. He was so exited when we read the story about the elf and how he comes to stay for awhile to see if you are being good or bad so he can report it back to santa every night until christmas eve. So his elf, Jack is a mischevious little elf. The book says that he may get into some trouble. so im trying to create a little fun mischief for him to get into..I have some ideas like his elf and a stuffed animal found playing cards, Jack making snow angels with sugar or flour, Funny faces drawn with dry erase markers or pictures around the house and on my son, outdoor lights on swingset with a note from his elf, the elf having a snowball fight with a stuffed animal and cottons balls, etc.. i would like to do something like this everyday till christmas. cant wait to see what kind of kaos i can create with his elf, Jack and to see his facial expression throughout all the mayhem will be priceless. =) Making Memories!

Elf by sons toothbrush and the toothpaste open and some squeezed onto the bathroom counter. Elf in cookie jar. Elf in freezer with a spoon by the ice cream. Sounds like so much fun!!
This is our 3rd year with our elves (Molly and Jolly). Our kids LOVE it, too! Ours have done so many things. Some ideas off the top of my head....
They got themselves all wrapped up in the toiled paper and made a huge mess of it!
They've ridden remote control cars around the house.
They've used couch cushions & blankets to build a fort.
They've been found in the snack cupboard eating chips & made a mess!
They've been found sticking out upside down in the kids' backpacks!
They've been found playing Wii and Xbox
They've emptied the kids' underwear drawers and had pairs on their heads!
They've gotten stuck upside down in the kids' stockings.
My boys are too old for this but I love the whole idea of it.
For the mom saying the elf will give the child bad ideas...I have yet to have a friend or teacher(several friends have way younger kids than mine and several teachers use it in class) tell me the kids started behaving as the elf did.
I think the idea is the elf gets "bored" at night while everyone is sleeping and so gets in minor trouble.
As for ideas. Maybe hang some pictures upside down. For some of those I would try to ones that aren't noticed right away. Have him tangled up in some tinsel, christmas lights or similar items. Flip couch cushions or pillows around or on the floor.
some funny things i saw on a blog was:
elf getting it on with barbie
elf throwing snow balls at stuffed animals
elf getting into moms 'nighty' drawer
maybe not appropriate for your son to see, but i couldn't help to post
I've never heard of elf on a shelf but when our daughter and niece were little we had an elf come to our house every night before Christmas... after the tree was up, of course. The elf would leave candy in the christmas tree branches and little gifts under the tree. They loved it! They both would try to "catch that elf".. lol
Once my husband wrote a letter from the elf and changed the font to look like some weird language. The girls took forever before they figured that out.
My mom found tons of Pictures on Pinterest of the Elves doing funny things ;) I plan to use some ideas!
