Call Dr. Mao ###-###-#### he is the best. My son had it really bad on his face and Dr. Mao makes his own homeopathic cream and it works almost instantly and it HOMEOPATHIC
Hi All! I am looking for recommendations for treating my 7 month old son's baby eczema. He has dry patches almost always behind his knees and a spot on the inside of his upper left arm and when he has a flare up it covers his legs, arms, and neck/back of the head and sometimes his tummy, We currently use aquaphor which seems to be the most helpful but have tried Aveeno, Baby Naturals, Eucerin, California Baby, steroid creams (which I don't particularly like) . . . you name it, with not great results. So, we are trying to find something else that might help with the itchy, dry skin. I was looking into Renew or Arbonne products but wanted some advice before spending even more money (as these products aren't cheap). So, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Eczema is an allergic reaction, so if you can figure out what he is allergic to and eliminate that, it will solve the problem. We had our son tested for allergies but the results were not conclusive. Often babies' skin reacts to dyes or chemicals in soaps & detergents. Hypoallergenic laundry soap helps. We had to use prescription strength hydrocortisone to clear up our son's skin as we could never figure out what he was allergic to. He did grow out of it eventually. Best of luck to you!
Hi J.~
I did not get a chance to read thru the other responses so I hope I'm not repeating anything :)
When my son was a baby he had bad eczema too. I've found that Cetaphil has worked the best. We use the gentel skin cleanser and the moisturizing cream (the one that comes in a tub). His Dr actually recommended that brand and we have been very happy with it. You can find both at Costco for a good price.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
Hello. I have been suffering with eczema my whole life.....tried everything....and this is what works for me, anything with salycidic acid in it 2%. I know this sounds harsh but it is not. I use the Nuetrogena Body Scrub with 2% Salycidic acid and it really keeps my skin clear. Another product that is great for the itching is the Kirkland brand hydrocortisone cream from Costco. I was a total skeptic but tried it with great results. Good luck! It is nt a fun think to deal with.
I agree with Lia S. You can treat it, but it will always come back until the child outgrows it (hopefully). My son was allergic to dairy and since we cut that out almost 2 years ago it has not come back. It could be food related or something in the environment.
I have eczema and tried everything too. I spent a ton of money on creams, lotions, and steroids. It wasn't until I changed my diet that my eczema subdued. I eliminated gluten from my diet with excellent results. I still use steroids for bad flare ups but I don't have them as often (only when I unknowingly eat gluten). If you are breast feeding, just try eliminating it from your diet and see. My doctors said this wouldn't work but it did!
I mix in equal parts:
Vaseline
1% Hydrocortisone cream
Benedryl anti-itch cream
Zinc Oxide cream 40% (Desitin is fine)
Get a little jar and mix them together with a spoon.
Wet the affected area down and lock in the moisture with this cream (or apply after a bath). The patches go away over night. This is the only thing that has worked for me.
For bad flare-ups, steroid creams are really the only thing that are going to clear it up. But, you can use other things to maintain good skin and reduce the frequency and severity of flare-ups.
We used to use Aquaphor on my son, but got tired of dealing with how greasy and slimy it is, so we switched to Cerave lotion (available at Walgreen's and I think CVS; never seen it at Target or a supermarket). It works really well and has helped his skin immensely. Every night after his bath, we cover him with the lotion from head to toe while his body is still damp.
We had good luck with Cetaphil. Put it on liberally after the bath to lock in some moisture. The kind in the TUB. Best of luck : )
my kids had this too and the ONLY thing that ever helped was from Mustella. It's called Stellatopia (sp?) cream. it is expensive, but it cleared it up with in a couple days and brought back his baby smooth skin again.
Arbonne is wonderful. My Daughter, Granddaughter, Grandson and myself all suffered with it. Arbonne helped and it is worth the money. Keep in mind they have no fillers or added ingredients so they last a really long time a little goes a long way. When I became a consultant I had no clue that just by switching from OTC shampoo and lotions that my Eczema would clear up so that was an added benefit. I will send you a PM with my contact info and I would also be happy to send you a free sample of our ABC baby products.
Renew, when used in conjunction with the other products manufactured by that company is VERY effective. If you switch to MelaPower and Melaleuca bath products, they will save you money. The company also gives $100 in free products to new customers. Sounds like you may have a friend who is a marketing exec. with Melaleuca. Ask to see the presentation, and then decide if it is a good fit for you. Renew also lasts a long time, i.e. a little goes a long way, so be sure you are comparing cost /use. Hey - it sure beats repeated visits to the doctor, or using steroid prescriptions on your baby!!! If you need more info, feel free to contact me.
Try pure coconut oil. Me and my son both ge eczema and it definitely helps.
HI there,
I have two children who have fairly bad eczema on their legs, (weird huh? only the legs) Anyway, they also have major allergies to food. Thankfully, they are not serious as to cause breathing issues (anaphalactic...spelling?)
I KNOW that their eczema is caused by the food that they eat. The Allergist prescribed a mild steroid, and it does work, you just have to find the right one which could take some time.
My 15 month old is allergic to wheat, eggs, soy, and a few milder ones.
For example, I gave her a celery stick with ranch dressing on it, and her face got all red and blotchy. She was scratching her face like she couldn't find the itch, poor baby. That ranch dressing had egg in it. (I read label after giving it to her, don't worry i read labels now)
If you are giving your baby cheerios, or any other snack that might have wheat in it, that could be the problem. If he doesn't eat those things yet, then I would just get him tested at an allergist (usually by blood test)
Also, my allergist recommended CETAPHIL moisturizing cream. It's the best out there, as well as one of the most expensive.
Allergies....find out what they are, and that could be your answer for the eczema,
good luck!
