Hi M.!
I LOVE Craigslist! We have found and sold so many items at such a great price and FAST. It's totally free and local. It's like an online newspaper. I have had REALLY good luck on both ends with Craigslist. My ONLY cons for Craigslist is that you can get stood up by the people that say they are coming to look at the item and you don't know who is coming. You just hope you can trust them. As for Ebay, I still use them but not for big items. I use them for something that I just can't find. I think their fees are ridiculous and I really lost a lot of trust in them. You just don't know what you're going to get.
Good Luck,
K. :~)

P.S. There is also a website www.napervilleyardsales.com that is really cool. Obviously local but another option.

Hi, I just got hip with the whole Craigs list and let me tell you that just a few days ago I saw your request listed and took the advice of a comment that said if your meeting w/ someone it should be in a public place. I purchased something off of Craigs list and met the individual in a public place we exchanged money for items and went smoothly. I got what I wanted w/ out the hassle of ebay and credit card exchanges and waiting for the product. I loved it. I've only used it this time. My experience was good. Honest people selling an honest item is what I got from it. I will use this method again. But always be careful and never go alone. Review the item in person and things should go smooth.
Good luck.

I prefer to sell items on Craigslist. It alleviates having to mail things to people and deal with pay pal etc. I stipulate cash and carry. They must pay cash and either pick up or meet somewhere to get the item.

I like craigslist unless it's a smaller, high value, portable item. Craigslist is really fast. It's free. and it's local. So esp. for larger things, it's much better. YOu don't have to mess with shipping, waiting for an auction etc. Ebay is good if you dont think there's much local demand for the item. Maternity clothing, collectors items etc. But it's more of a pain.

With Ebay, you should set up Paypal which takes a couple of days to do but it's a much safer way to sell things then Craigslist. People across the country and around the world use Ebay, so any items that you plan on selling will get a lot more viewers and they use a fair bidding system. Craigslist tends to have more local readers. Also, I have heard of a lot of creeps that use Craigslist. The only thing I'd use Craigslist for is if you are going to sell soemthing big that you want to arrange a local pickup for. On ebay, the buyer pays shipping and handling so if you sell something, the buyer pays you through seller the cost of the item plus shipping and handling. Also, buyers and sellers are rated on Ebay so if you are looking to buy something you can read the person's reviews to make sure that you don't buy from someone who doesnt deliver on time or has questionalble quality in the items they are selling. I have fun using Ebay and have sold about a dozen things on it so far. I have listed things on craigslist and you just get the lamest people that say they are interested, set up a time to meet with you and then no call and no show. ALso, we tried to give things away on Craigslist when we moved, like furniture and miscellaneous things and we got so many people that wasted our time and ended up calling a charity and donated it. Good luck to you!

Hi! I used to sell ALL the time on ebay-it can be good. The thing w/ebay is their fees and your time packaging and handling what you are selling. By the time you figure that into the price of what you are selling most people don't even want to look at what you have. The time you spend taking pictures, setting up a paypal account, writing the description of the items, possibly dealing with people who want to return things, etc. I could explain the ins and outs privately-otherwise this could get to be a long post. As for craigslist-I have had several good experiences. One of the best things is that it is free. I will advise to be VERY cautious-not trying to overexaggerate or anything, I am just being real about a couple of things I have heard and personally experienced. Anyway, with craigslist there are a lot of crazies on there so you have to be leary of unusual requests. Now for me I had someone ask if they could send me their paycheck and then send the rest of the money left over from their check to their "wedding planner" along with the dress I was selling. I obviously refused(way too much work and it didnt make sense), well a couple of days later it was actually on the news that people were doing things like this. The other advice I have is that if you are going to sell dont go meet anyone someplace unless it is in like a police station parking lot(I offered to meet someone at the police station here in town instead of meeting where they suggested and I never heard from them again), and do not be alone meeting someone or having them come to your house. I always made sure my fiance or someone else was home-just in case. I was able to get rid of a ton of baby stuff w/people willing to pay a good price on craigslist. Although now I think it really is just easier to have a garage sale. Good luck and sorry this was so long-I would be glad to answer any questions you may have.
