My little girl REALLY wants an EASY bake oven. She has a tree nut allergy. Looking at a handful of mixes, I can see they will be prohibitive. Does anyone use their own recipes successfully with the Easy Bake oven in order to avoid allergens?

on The View, there was a segment last week with Presents under $30 and there was a cupcake maker that has gluten free ingredients and they are produced in a factory that doens't process ANY nuts. It looked really cool, you microwave the cupcakes and then they have this pump type thing to put icing on them. sorry i don't know the name, something like Little Girls Cupcake Factory or something. i know it's not the same but it may be a great alternative.

Alright I know I used to have a website bookmarked because I just saw it the other night. Although I was cleaning out some of my favorites and must have deleted it figuring my child would never bake by light bulb :-)

I googled "Easy Bake Oven recipes" and here are two sites with lots of recipes.

I didn't have allergies but we alway used our own recipes. I didn't have a lot as a kid but I loved my easy bake oven. Don't let an allergy stop you from giving your daughter something so wonderful!! Go bake and be merry!!

Hi! This isn't a direct answer to your questions, but I did want to say to be careful w/ the Easy Bake Oven. My daughter was given one for her 3rd birthday. That model wasn't on the recall list at that time (1.5 years ago). My husband and I were too afraid to have her use it, so she used it as a toy. One day, she put her hand in and the metal piece came down and trapped her hand inside. It look me several mins. to pry her hand out. The entire time she was crying and saying how much it hurt. This is how kids are getting the 3rd degree burns. They are unable to get their hands out if they put them in. Since then, this model has been put on the recall list. I know several people who have them and love them, but I would just be careful with it. Good Luck!

It's making it in her own oven that is the thrill. My daughter has a tree nut allergy and we had the same problem. What I do is if I am making any baked good she gets her easy bake oven out and I give her a little batter to make a small one in her oven. I have done a cookie, brownie and a cake. She can also help mix the batter. She is so happy about that.

I have (somewhat) successfully made regular cake mixes in my daughter's Easy Bake Oven. You just have to put very little in or else it overflows and doesn't bake. Same goes for cookie dough. Have fun!!

How about buying your daughter child size kitchen utensils and her own apron? Then you can bake together in the real oven and make it fun. You can also get tiny pans at a craft store :-)

I would agree with the 2nd poster, buy her some kid sized stuff and let her use the big oven.
I can't tell you how much I HATE those easy bake ovens! Do to saftey issues and such they are a huge pain in the butt. You have only a tiny little slot to slide those things in , they get stuck, can have difficulties getting them out and changing the litebulb is not fun either.
