The recipe isn't hard, it's the prep work, so I use my food processor! I peel and quarter the apples and use the processor to slice them. It slices the apple very thin, which I prefer because I don't like my apple pieces to be 'crunchy'. When I started doing this, it made baking a pie much easier and quicker! And my husband loves it because I am willing to bake more often!

This recipe is one I make all the time, my family always requests it because it is sooo good. The difference is I use Granny Smith apples instead of any other kind, and they are delicious!!!

Peel and slice about 6 apples for each pie
Use Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Dough (the BEST) and easy.
In a bowl, combine 2 Tbsp. flour, 3/4 to 1 cup sugar, and apple pie spice OR 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp. nutmeg, 1 tsp. cloves. You can make each of those spice amounts more or less depending on taste. Mix it all up, then pour into bottom pie crust. Cut a stick of butter into 1 Tbsp. slices, then add 2 or 3 to top of apples. Cover with second pie crust, seal edges together, cut 4 lines in top for air and then sprinkle with sugar. Place in 400 degree oven for 35-50 minutes. You can always make little cutouts on top of the pie for pretty effects if you like.

If you wanted a caramel apple pie, you could add some cut up caramel to the mix and that comes out wonderful too :)

Super recipe, your family will love it to pieces!!! Good luck, email me at ____@____.com anytime for more recipes or any questions :)

It's all in the apple! I choose granny smith, about a cup of sugar, 5 T butter, 3t cinammon. The more butter and cinammon, the richer the taste. I make crust with 2C flour, 2t salt, 2/3 C + 2T crisco, 2T water. The less water, the flakier the crust!

In reality Mrs. Smith makes a great frozen pie and they were on sale for $3.99 a Kroger!
Now seriously, you can purchase pie crust sheets at the grocery store use them. Open a can of pie filling mix add a little more cinnamon and bake it. Easiest way I know.

Honestly, most apples pies are really simple. You didn't mention whether you wanted a two crust pie, crumb top, etc. I have an EXCELLENT Butterscotch Apple w/ a crumb top. The butterscotch is in the topping. I also have a "naked apple pie" recipe that is about as simple as it gets. No bottom crust. Have a "NEVER FAIL" Brown Bag apple pie that you bake IN a brown bag in the oven.
I have over 400 cookbooks and create my own recipes. There's not alot I don't have. Let me know. FYI.......I also teach people to cook and bake, too.

A., here's the link to a great recipe for a "freezer fruit pie"--http://momtestedkidapproved.blogspot.com/2009/09/freezer-.... I've made it twice with apples (Granny Smiths are great for apple pies). The best part about the recipe is you can make the filling ahead of time and freeze it in the shape of the pie pan in which you'll be baking it. You can make the crust or buy a freezer/refrigerator pie crust. You don't even have to thaw the filling. Just pop it into the crust when you're ready to bake it and follow the instructions on the recipe. I hope it works out for you!

The easiest one I make (and I make it all the time) is to buy a bag of golden delicious apples, and a ready made roll out crust (Pillsbury in the dairy case). Peel and slice apples, about 8-9 depending on the size. Put them in a bowl and cover with sugar and cinnamon. You can also add nutmeg, some people do, I use it if I have but otherwise I'm not worried. Place one piece of crust in your pie plate and fill with the apple, sugar and cinnamon mixture. Apples should be stacked high over the pan because they will bake way down (about half of what they look like raw). Add several cubes of butter to the top of the apples and then cover with the second pie crust. You need to cut some small vents in the center of the crust so that it doesn't break open. Cover with foil around the edges and bake at 350 for about 35 minutes! Very Very easy to do!!! Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!

Just last night I went to a meeting where they served a carmel apple pie. I'm not overly fond of pie but this was exceptional. She confessed to buying it at Sam's Club and said a local restaurant buys them to serve their customers!! Can't get any easier than that!! We always have around 40 people for Christmas (we provide turkey, ham and potatoes) and everyone brings a side dish. This year we are adding this pie to the menu. Good Luck

Here's an easy and delicious one. It's a dutch apple pie- meaning crumbly crust on top instead of another pie crust. That makes it a bit easier. I make my own crust, but if you use a purchased crust it is easier.

5-6 medium tart cooking apples (I like jonathan--my friend uses granny smith...do NOT use red delicious)
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 Tablespoons butter

Peel and slice apples. Fill 9” pie shell with apples. Mix sugar and cinnamon and pour over apples. Dot apples with 2 Tablespoons of butter, cut up.

Cream 1/4 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar together. Cut in 3/4 cup flour and dash of salt until crumbly. Put on top of apples.

Bake at 400 for 15 minutes and then decreased temperature to 375 and bake until apples are tender.

Making applie pie froms scratch is always time consuming and not what I'd ever call "easy", especially if you are also preparing a complete Thanksgiving dinner (all that time to peel and slice the apples alone makes it tiring). However, Sara Lee, Marie Calendar and Mrs. Smith all make great frozen apple pies (Marie Calendar has a nice crumb topped one). If you are making the whole Thanksgiving Dinner, there is no share in using a store bought pie. Oh, and Giant Eagle's bakery and Heinen's also makes Fabulous pies!!!! (And this is coming from someone who really likes to bake. I had my husband's family over last year, and went the Marie Calendar route on the pies just to save myself time and energy. Cooking a Turkey and all the fixings is a lot of work! Not to mention all the cleaning you do to get ready for the guests!)

If you are really dead set on making from scratch, I'd recomend at least buying the frozen pre-made crust from pillsbury. I use it all the time and it tastes just as good as the homemade crusts that my mom and sister struggle to make every year (and seems less likely to burn...). Every year my sister complains about how hard it is to make the crust from scratch, and I keep telling her, just go the easy route - use Pillsbury!!! If you have the Betty Crocker cookboock (red checked cover), I've always found their pie recipes to be very straightforward and easy.
