Ear Tubes - Edmond, OK

My son needs tubes in his ears and we need advice on having it done in the office versus in surgery. We are worried obviously about the risks with anesthesia, but don't necessarily want to have him tortured in the office. Any experiences you have had would be helpful.

What can I do next?

J.,
I have done tubes both ways on different kiddos. The risks associated with anesthesia are small. And, the PEACE everyone experiences with the surgery route is worth this minimal risk ~ in my opinion. My first 2 kids had tubes in the ofc (1 of them 3 times) and it was pretty awful. My last little guy we did outpatient surgery & it was fairly uneventful for ALL involved.
Good luck!

I have never even heard of this being done in a office as opposed to sugery. That would worry me. 2 out of my 3 kids have had tubes, my little one is on his second set. All have been done in an OR with no complications.

I have 3 boys and 2 of them have had to have tubes multiple times! We recently moved here from San Diego where they both needed tubes again, and it was DR. Jason Sigmon to the rescue! I too would HIGHLY recomend him. He has done adnoids, tubes and sinus surgery for us in the last year on 2 of my boys! Good luck!

My daughter had tubes put in when she was 2 years old. After that she no longer had any promblems with her ears. Before the tubes she would cry all the time cuz she was in so much pain. She did fine after the surgery and she is now 17 years old and never has had any ear promblems. Her surgery was done at the Norman Hospital.Good Luck!!!!

My son has had fluid in his ears since he was born and has had 3 different sets of tubes put in, the first set was when he was about 8-9 mos old. He is now 2. We have always done it the surgical way. He came thru each time with flying colors. I have not heard or having them put in in the office, but I know when they had to remove one in the office it was the most horrible thing I have ever seen and Joey screamed like never before. The surgery only takes about 10-15 mins. In fact, we spent more time at the surgery center before the actual surgery than we did waiting for it to be over and in recovery. He was always the first one to have it done in the day (because of his age they do the babies first) and he would be up and playing by the afternoon on the day of the surgery. The first two sets of tubes were done by a different doctor than the third set. If you are in the OKC area, I highly recomend Dr. Jason Sigmon, he did my son's 3rd set and we havent had any problems and he is very infomative and answers all of our questions. Good luck and God bless you and your family.
