My baby girl will be 4 weeks on Wednesday and I am wanting to take her to get her ears peirced. Can anyone recommend a place? I was thinking Claire's but I'm not sure if they will do it since she is so little.

What can I do next?

Hi J., I took my daughter to Claire's when she was 3ish to reward her for potty training. She picked out her favorite purple earrings and we waited our turn. When it was her turn, there were 2 teenaged girls that were the piercers. They said, "we'll go on 3. one.. two... three". Well, one went and the other hesitated, my daughter was so freaked out that she was not letting anyone come near her again! We left and she had only one ear pierced for the longest time. She was too frightened to try it again, so we finally took the sole purple earring out.
My advice would be to check with your pediatrician to see if he or she will do it. Some doctors do, they have a numbing cream they apply about 30 minutes before hand and the child won't have the pain or the horrible experience that we did. My daughter is now at the age that she could have lots of pretty earrings but she refuses to go through the trauma again!
Maybe it would be better for you to have it done at such a young age, but still, I would check with your ped.

Hi! I have a 4 month old and got her ears pierced 1 month ago... They have to be 2 months old with their first round of shots or they won't do it. I did it at Claire's and they did a great job! It is hard to see them cry but they heal really fast! Good Luck!

Hi J.,

I think she has to be at least three months old before they will peirce them. I had my daughters peirced at Claire's when she was that age and they did a good job. My husband and I cried more than the baby did.

Hello J.,
My name is S. and I have a 3 year old daughter. When my daughter was 4 weeks old I went and got her ears peirced at Claire's. I would recomend them, they where great with her. They will piece them at the age. Just make sure you bring in there shot records incase they ask. I think when I had taken my daughter she had to have a certain shot first.
I hope this helps!!

HI J., I thought about having my daughters ears pierced when she was a baby but decided it would be really fun to wait until she ASKED me to have them pierced. Then we could make a big deal out of it, like a girls day out or something, pick out cute earrings, etc. She is now 9, yes, NINE and still has not asked me. She is in no hurry and thinks of herself as a tomboy so I'm glad I did not make that decision for her. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Hi J.,

I got my daughter ear pierced at 4 months and I went to Claire's. The only thing I really didn't like was the fact they only do one ear at a time. So for as little as yours is I'm not sure if that would be a great idea. They are a great place to do it though.

I worked for Claire's and have done the piercing - they're not *supposed to* do it until 3 months old. They will do them both at the same time, and they actually give quite a bit of training and hands on practice.
However, I would definitely wait. We had so many people come back with preteens who had had their ears done as babies, but their ears grew at different rates and were now lopsided. We also had a lot that got infected because babies are much more vulnerable due to their touching their ears and things like spit up. Many people said they'd try to clean the baby's ears, but it was too difficult.
