I guess it also depends on your needs? I'm not sure if the DC 14 has a smaller dirt cup than the DC 25, but that could be something to think about if you have a lot of floor to vacuum and don't want to keep emptying the cup.
I ended up getting the DC 25 Animal, which basically is the DC 25 (ball) but is purple and came with the mini turbine head. We have a cat that sheds like crazy, so having that head attachment to vacuum the couch, the cat bed, etc was worth it.
I was really hesitant to buy a Dyson because they're so expensive, but honestly, now that I've had it for almost 6 months, I don't know why I didn't convert sooner! Check prices on Amazon too. I got ours while they were running a sale - (with free shipping).
