I think you mean "dual" immersion program, unless they are learning both Spanish and fighting. ;-)
I might have the opportunity to enroll my son in a Spanish dual immersion program next year for kindergarten. Does anyone have any experience, positive or negative? Thanks for your insights :)

I think its a wonderful program. We have a school like that in our area, but I think we are moving so Im not looking into it. They asked for a 5 year commitment in order for the program to work for your child. Anytime a child has the opportunity to learn a second language is fantastic. Usually there is a wait list to get in. Good luck and I would say go for it. T.
Our school district has immersion programs. Ours is Spanish.
The problem I have with the program at our school? Most of the kids enrolled in the program already speak Spanish - it's their native tongue so the kids who are TRYING to learn Spanish - as that is the IDEA behind the program - get left behind.
The idea and premise behind the immersion program is great! Learning - speaking, reading and writing - in a different language for half of the school day.
My elementary school was like that. We spent half the day in English and half the day in Spanish. I am fluent in both so I would say that it was a positive thing for me.
My niece is in a school like that in Minnesota. She is doing great in first grade this year and can speak Spanish very well. I wish there was something like that in my area. I think if you can give your kids the advantage of learning a second language at a young age then do it.
