I also live in Irving. Go to Mike's Music. It is in the shopping center at the corner of 183 and MacArthur. Next door to Big Lots. They give lessons there. See ya! J.
I'm looking for a drum instructor for my son who is going into first grade. He's practicing to be a Blue Man when he grows up and our couch is ready for him to drum somewhere else. I live in Irving. Somewhere close would be nice. Any recommendations? Thanks so much.

There are so many choices when it comes to private lessons. BUT, it will depend on how much you want to invest/spend.
When school is in session, there are private lesson teachers at every high school. You could check with your local high school band director for the name and contact info of their percussion teachers.
If you want lessons now, there are several music schools (one in Carrollton, I believe), BUT these are going to be expensive (because they have to pay for a building).
Things to look for when hiring a private teacher:
1- do they have a degree in music?
(if they don't, they really shouldn't be charging you more than $15 per half hour)
2- what requirements will there be outside of lessons
(practice time; recitals; extra book/equipment fees)
Private lessons and instruments are not cheap, please don't be afraid to ask questions and test the teacher out. A lot of success in private lessons comes from the teacher and the student having a good repore.
Best wishes for your future percussionist!!
