The closest one I know of is down toward Ennis. I miss them too and would love to take my grandkids to one!
Does anyone know of local drive-ins? Are there any around any more? I would love to take my kids to one!

There is one in Granbury (just south of Ft. Worth). It's called The Brazos Drive-In. We went last fall. It was a lot of fun. Actually, Granbury is a fun weekend trip. They have a cute downtown area and Fossil Rim is a short drive away. I don't think there are any other drives-ins in the DFW area besides the Brazos and the one in Ennis.
We go the the Galaxy Drive in just north of Ennis (Garrett, TX) fairly regularly. It is $6 per adult and $5 per child (under 2 is free) for TWO first run movies. You can't take food in, but the snack bar is very reasonably priced. They have miniature golf to play while you wait for the movies to begin!
I agree that the Galaxy is awesome! We go regularly. You don't have to wait for great movies to get there---the drive-in shows the same movies at the same time they are in the major theaters. Worth the drive!!!!!
there is a fabulous fun old fashioned inexpensive one 45 minutes away on the service rd of the hgwy that goes thru ennis I take all the tweens in our neighborhood on thursdays in the summer I just cant think of the hgwy at the moment I'm sure another Mama will.
There are two: one on I-45 down near Ennis and one on US-377 down in Granbury. One time we stayed the night Saturday in Granbury, rather than drive an hour home at midnight.
I don't know of any in the metroplex, but there is one called the Galaxy drive-in off I-45, right before you get into Ennis.
There is one down around Ennis somewhere.
I don't have an answer I just wanted to see if anybody else did.
