Dried Milk Stains on Leather

Any suggestions on how to get rid of dried milk stains off of the leather seats in my car? My son loves to flick his sippy cup straw, so milk gets everywhere! I've used Simple Green with little success, and I'd hate what Windex or ammonia products will do to the leather long tern. And, wiping it up as soon as it happens just isn't going to happen.

What can I do next?

I just cleaned up all my dried milk stains on my leather seats with leather clean and conditioning wipes. I bought them at the car wash and they even have them at target. I didn't have any problems wiping them away!! They also sell the direct spray or gel for those tougher areas that may need to soak for a minute. I hope this works, it worked for me! Good luck!

I get those too on my furniture. I found that the Swiffer spray cleaner works wonders. I think it's called spray and shine or something like that. It smells really good and it's ok to use on leather. Good Luck!

Enzymes in saliva are perfect for it.

(Hence the old "spit polish". )

Failing that, you might try one of the enzymatic cleaners...like kids'n'pets...but i don't know how they'd react to leather...since there are more and different enzymes in those then in our saliva.

Well, like your son, we got milk flick's on our leather sofas too... dried milk flick spots.
I just used a diaper wipe, and rubbed rubbed rubbed, and it did wipe off.
And then I used Lemon Pledge... which I figured is 'moisturizing'. (ha, ha... yah I know not the 'standard' way of cleaning leather. But it did not harm it. I just did it on the fly as I was cleaning the living room and was multi-tasking! LOL).

I don't know what type of leather 'texture' your car seats are... but our leather sofas are 'glossy' finished. Not, raw leather or suede.

Or, you can use 'saddle soap.' Its found anywhere where you would find shoe polish/cleaning supplies. Which come to think of it.... try any type of "shoe" product... since shoes are leather too. I've done that to our sofas too... it's fine.

Don't use any harsh chemicals on leather... then those products might stain it too.

Good luck,
Susan

I have a cleaning business and I use LOC. It is totally safe on any surface that you can use water on and it is not toxic to children at all. You can get it at
www.we-us.mychoices.biz You have to sign up and get a code and password but will never get spam (I hate sites that spam you). It works better than any thing I have tried when I work on tough stains on ANYTHING!!!

I would recommend you get steam cleaning done on the car seats it will definitely take out the stain and leave it bacteria free. You can either do it your self if you have a steam cleaner(or you can rent one) or you can have a car steam cleaning http://www.detailxperts.net/services_locations_mobile_det... service do it for you.

Try leather seat cleaner from an auto supply store. They should know how to steer you. I had the same problem, not milk but my child threw up all kinds of chocolate and we had light gray leather seats. It was really hard to get out without a cleaner. Hope this helps.

I use a product called Tough and Tender for jobs like this. Works wonders and is toxin free and doesn't harm leather or other types of fabric. If you want to contact me, I could send you some more information on it. :)

Have you tried a damp microfiber cloth. Thats what I used on my leather couch. and hey no chemicals at all. =0) there are also leather cleaning wipes in the cleaing section at walmart, target, etc. they aren't very expensive, like $5 for 40 or so. We used those too, and they condition the leather too! I think "armor all" makes some as well. But seriously the micorfiber works and if its just damp not too wet it won't hurt the leather at all.

I got breast milk stains off my leather jacket with Goo Gone. I rubbed them off w/ a q tip soaked w/ it. It may not be the same kind of milk, but the leather seemed unaffected. And of course, there's leather cleaner...
I hope that helps.

Hi W.-I have leather furniture and I know it sounds strange, but I spray hairspray on the areas I need to clean and then wipe it with a dry towel. My daughter got pen on the leather and it came out with hairspray. I saw it on a cleaning show and tried it. It works awesome! Good luck!
