Hi all,
I have a weird dream question. I find that I almost never dream about my husband or child. So when I do recall a dream that one of them is in, it's something I think about and ponder. I asked my BFF if she found her dreams similar and she laughed and said - thank god I don't dream about them! I see them enough while I'm awake!! Hahaha!
Anyone else tend to NOT dream about their spouse and kids?

Interesting.
When pete died (3 years ago this April) I prayed/wished/demanded that he come to me in dreams.
He does...sort of...like out of the corner of my eye. I sense that he is there, but seem unable to really see (or touch or feel) him. He remains always just shy of my grasp.
My ex husband (we were married almost 20 years, and we have 7 kids together) is in my dreams a LOT since he died in september of liver failure.
Dreams of HIM keep me awake. The dreams of him are much more amicable than the reality had been.
I do dream of the kiddos, and my parents. Those dreams bring me peace.
Best!
I NEVER dream about my husband. (I often dream about certain exes though) and rarely my kids... frequency of appearance seems to correlate with age- oldest more likely than youngest.
I have 5 sisters and I dream about them sometimes, the younger ones at least twice as often as the older ones.
Makes me wonder who the heck I AM dreaming about.
I dream about my college roommates and HS pals all the time. Last night the cast of Full House was in there.
I love reflecting on my dreams, it can be very telling if you take some time to self-analyze the themes that come up!
I hardly ever do. And my husband never dreams about me or our son either. I agree with your BFF too!
interesting.
i don't often encounter my husband, sons, dad or brothers in my dreams, and i'm glad because when i do it's almost inevitably a nightmare. not sure why this is, probably some sort of mechanism for uprooting and clearing away hidden anxieties.
but that's for the living. when my moms (birth and step, both deceased) show up, or my little brother whom we lost decades ago, it's generally pleasant and occasionally important.
i used to keep a dream journal but don't any more. no clue how it works for most people, but for me the vast majority of my dreaming is simply processing, and pretty nonsensical.
but not always. sometimes my gods or my beloved dead use my dreams to communicate something important. i can generally tell because the quality of the dreams is subtly but resonantly different.
what's really weird is that my old mare shows up in my dreams almost every night. and she has for decades now. not always in a starring role, and occasionally not at all (but then another horse will often make an appearance.) no clue why the old harridan haunts my dreams. she's a literal nightmare!
i know i'm not going to have her much longer. i'll be interested to see how losing her affects her long-term role in my nightly pageant.

I think I'm like your friend.
I dream about them all the time.
i can't remember the last time one of my family members was in my dreams. my dad was in one about a year ago, but not my hubby or kids.
I rarely dream about mine. My kids will show up infrequently; my husband almost never. I just realized recently that when I dream about "my home" in my dreams it's more often than not my parents' home that I grew up in, often with my parents there but not my husband and kids.
It's been a long time but my ex-husband used to show up in my dreams, but he would piss me off as much (or even more) as he did in real life. Cheating bastard.
Ex-boyfriends would show up with some frequency and they were always good dreams (she says while slightly blushing!).
People in your dreams are aspects of your own self. Those of the opposite sex are subconscious aspects. (this is put simply, but true)
Hi,
Your friend's response made me laugh. I don't dream much about my DH or DS but sometimes I do get the sense they're around. Since my DH lost his father he's dreamed about him quite a bit. I only recall two dreams with my father, who passed in 2010, and in one of them he refused to turn around so I couldn't see his face.........so frustrating!!!
BOYS!! LOL. I doubt this helped much but I'm grateful for the question. It was thought provoking. :-) S.
