Has anyone ever seen Dr. DeAndrea in Camarillo? We have her 18 month appt scheduled with him in May, but I'm nervous. I'm very attached to her doctor here in St Louis, so making the change is difficult. I'm just worried that he's going to push us to wean or CIO or something that we aren't comfortable with. Anyone have any experience with him? What's he like with kiddos?

Thanks! I'm so nervous about all this change coming up. I know it will be great once we're out here, but making the change is difficult.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I wanted to thank you all so much for the input. We had her 18 month check on Friday, and it went great. I was really impressed. Gabi is not a fan of people she doesn't know (typical for her age I think), but he gave her lots of time to warm up. When he started the exam, he explained what he was doing TO HER! I so appreciated that. He really treated her like a person if that makes sense. He was very respectful towards her and very gentle with her. Thanks everyone!

Hi M.,

I have been going to PVP since 1997 when my son was born. My son has seen all the doctor's, including Dr. DeAndrea. My 11 month old daughter now sees Dr. Bocash as he happen to be the one that was available after she was born. You will love Dr. DeAndrea along with all the others - I can't say enough good things about the practice and I hope that I never have to find out what it would be like not to have them to count on.

Welcome to Ventura County!

Good luck.

Hi M.,
Pleasant Valley Pediatrics is a great doctor's office and we went there since my first daughter was born in 2003. Our Primary was Dr. Galan who we loved. We often saw Dr. D'Andrea and the other doctors at the same office. We never had a problem with any of them and they all are nice professionals. I never felt they were encouraging me to handle any situation in a way I wasn't comfortable. They are all great with kids and listen to you. The staff was always kind as well. I think you will be very happy there. You can read Dr. D'Andrea's reviews on Yahoo Local. I only saw positive great reviews.

We had to change doctors when our insurance changed so we now go to Dr. Rao on the other side of the building. We have fallen in love with Dr. Rao and are very very happy with her office Children's Medical Group and hope we never have to change again. She's with Dr. Sharma and Dr. Lin who are good too (but our favorite is Dr. Rao) and the front desk staff and nurses are wonderful too. They have a website: http://www.freewebs.com/chepta/ We had a Pediatrician in Oxnard for a short time that I did not like at all! And it's unusual to find two doctor's offices that are so great, but the two I mentioned are.

Best of luck to you and Welcome to Ventura County! :)K.

I know a lot of people that use him and love him. You are very lucky to be able to get in to him. I would use him if my insurance allowed.

I don't know anything about Dr. DeAndrea, but I've been going to different pediatricians since my 4 year old was born. As with any doctor, they're there to give you ADVICE, not lay down the law. You know what's best for you and your family, not the doctors. If you don't agree with the doctor, simply say thank you and then do your own thing.

My first pediatrician pushed us to wean after Reese was 1 so she would eat more solids. I listened, said thank you and kept nursing her. We weaned when we were ready.

I think the only sticky issue with a lot of peds is immunizations. Most are willing to work with a delayed schedule, like the one Dr. Sears offers, but a lot are completely against not vaccinating at all.

Again, you're the parent, you know best. Good luck. :)

Hi M., welcome to Ventura! You'll love it out here. I don't know about Dr. DeAndrea in Camarillo, but if you don't like him or you feel he is not on the same page with you, my girls went to Dr. Linda Lundeen in Oxnard. My 19 year old comes home from college and still goes to her. We love her and have had great experiences with her. In the event you need a doctor too, My GP in Ventura is Dr. Sands. He is fantastic! Good luck on the move and again, Welcome.

Hi M.,

My daughters actually see Dr. Galan at Pleasnat Valley Pediatrics where Dr. DeAndrea also works. My children have seen him a couple of times when Dr. Galan wasnt available. He seems great and really on top of things. My children have seen all of the doctors there is for some reason Dr. Galan is not available and I have had a great experience with all of them. Good Luck
