Doula Recommendations?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good doula that would help with a delivery at Olathe Medical Center? I had a c-section the first time and would like to better my chances for a VBAC. Also, what should I expect to pay for this?

What can I do next?

My doula (Sally Riley) is on the list the other poster provided.

She was fabulous and I delivered at Olathe so I know that she will go there (at least she did 7 years ago..yikes it seems like it was just yesterday)

I highly recommend a doula. I had one for my first, and not for my second (but I delivered at the Topeka birth center) and now I will for my third. First and third will both be at OMC. I have heard good things about several and I recommend you interview a few and get a feel for who you would like. I first had Melanie Birdsong, and she was very good, very forceful to me and the nurses and helped me tremendously. This time I am having Sally Riley, mostly because I feel I know her better, have a connection to her and like her as a person. I have heard great things about Nadah, who I've heard is a rather earthy-hippie type. I'm sure there are other great ones out there, I really suggest talking to a few. I have not heard anything bad about any of them. As far as cost, it was $250 with my first, but I'm hearing more like $400 now. Mine was covered by my flex spending account, which helps some. Some insurance companies cover it (which makes sense, seeing the statistics on doulas and interventions and the cost of interventions). I hope it all goes well.

I just saw your post. If you haven't had the baby yet, I recommend Sarah Wallbaum. She was great for me with my second (a VBAC). I had prodromal labor and was in labor for 3 days. I could not have done it without her. Find her at www.mamasara.com.

Vanessa Flood of Birthing Beyond is great!! I think she lists her costs on her web site. She's the only doula we talked to, so I can't really compare her costs to others. Besides being a wonderful doula, she takes beautiful pictures immediately after the birth. http://www.birthingbeyond.com/
