Hi! I'm so full of questions with this next baby coming. Thanks for all your help...what a great network this is! I'm looking into double strollers and wondering, what's better, side-by-side or tandem? I've noticed some of the side-by-sides will accept an infant seat. This will be for my newborn, and daughter who will be 19months. Before my daughter was born (thinking she was our last) we purchased the pink Peg Perego with the step on the back, which was perfect for my 3 year old to ride on the back. Now, not only do I need to do away with the pink, I need to contain my little one :) THANKS

What can I do next?

The side by side one's are hard to get through store doors so i'd go with the tandum one. And good luck.

definately a jogging stroller with a swivel wheel in front - they go over ANYTHING! which is healpful because WE HAVE ENOUGH STRESSES!! We shouldn't have to lift a stroller to get over a crack in the sidewalk or over a crawling tree limb! I have a Sidestep Double Jogging Stroller that has the swivel wheel - it's side by side, and I LOVE it!!!!BEST $100 I EVER HAVE SPENT IN MY LIFE! Even if I only have the "baby" (he's 2 now) with me - I still take the double because of the ease of pushing and storage and such! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Check out www.Craigslist.org to find a great deal on one in your area. I got mine from a lady in Tampa on Craigslist for only $100 - it was in New condition! GOOD LUCK MAMA - and may your new child come quickly, easily and be beautiful!

I have two girls that are 18 mos. apart. I bought the Peg Perego Aria double stroller. It's the lightest weight double stroller on the market, it holds an infant seat and is side by side. The biggest problem I have with it is that it can be difficult to maneuver in stores. While stores are required by law to maintain a certain distance between clothing racks for the handicapped they don't do it so the double stroller doesn't fit in a lot of places. Other than that, my only complaint with it has been the lack of cup holder space. The cup holder it comes with is cheap and falls off. I hope this helps.

I agree with the two previous posts. The side by side strollers are a pain to get around in. With multiple kids you may want to consider the Sit and Stand stroller. It's great as you can put the baby up front(it has a car seat attachment) Then the little one can sit or stand in the back. Now this depends on how well the little one listens. I know sometimes there are little ones that need to be strapped in, but if yours is not like that then I would do the Sit n Stand. All of your kids could use it then. Taking turns riding on the back. It has two cup holders, a little storage unit in between the cup holders and a decent size basket on the bottom. I know several moms with them and they say they are life savers. Good luck with your choice and congrats on your 4th!! Wow!! That's so cool.

Hi C.! I am just an old granny but have been blessed many times over with lots of children in my life. I too agree that a side by side is very hard to maneuver. They are at times too wide to get through many doorways.Naturally the baby could be in the seat closest to you in a car seat of sort and the toddler would be in front so she can fill her imagination with the beauty of life as you are strolling. I have not been of much help as far as a brand but do know that you would be much happier with a tandem. Congratulations on your new little one and God Bless you and your family! Take care!

MacLaren's side-by-side has got to be the best as far as durability, portability, lightweight, and easy to maneuver. And unlike other side-by-sides, it is constructed so well and compact that it can easily go through store doors and aisles with ease, without compromising the little ones' comfort.

I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old - I have both the Graco Duo (the one with bull horn handles) and the side-by-side Peg Perego Aria stroller. The Aria doesn't fit the Graco car seat and it is MUCH garder to push for some reason. It doesn't turn as easily as the Graco. That being said, the Graco is heavier and barely fits in my trunk (after a lot of stroller wrestling). Overall, I like the Graco better, but I sooooo look forward to using a single stroller again!

I liked the side by side. My kids wouldn't pick at eachother as much:) Also, they couldn't fight over who got to sit in the front or back. I felt the side by side also maneuvered easier. You can't go to department stores and shop the clothing racks as easy with either one...but, hey.. you'll have four kids under six...You won't have time to worry about that anyway!:) Good luck and God bless!

Hi C.,

I have 6 year old twins and had both styles strollers. They both have their good and bad points. The side by side is good for walking around and keeping an eye on your daughter, but they are tricky to get through doors, usually both had to be open if it was a store, and most stores don't have room down the isles for it. The tandem one is great for moving around in tighter spots, but it can get bulky to pack in the van (I hope you have one:-)) I even had a triple stroller, but that is another story:-)
I liked the tandem the best, but for walks, the side by side was good. I would recommend that you go to a store, even like Kid Crazy, and just try them. Have your daughter and maybe your 4 year old sit in them and see how they push and move with weight. That was the only issue I had was when it got heavy to push, it was rough. Each weighs about 25 pounds or so and when you add kids and car seats..... it adds up:-)
Hope this helps!
Roz

My kids are also 19 months apart. I wasn't sure what to get when I was pregnant. I researched quite a bit and got the One Step Ahead Sit N Stand Elite Double. It is a tandem, and it offered things that were important to me - cup holders, a storage area, and mainly -- versatility. It holds an infant carseat, then once the baby is older - it can be set up so that the kids face one another OR both face forward. AND, then it converts to the sit and stand for later! We are just about to switch to it! Also it was resonably priced - just under $200 I think. It also had great reviews when I had read up on it. Here is the link. http://www.onestepahead.com/product/osa/6793.html The only two drawbacks are - it is a little heavy to get in and out of car and the storage is a little tricky to access - but I just pull the net down and squeeze things in there.

Hi, C.!

You have your hands full :-)

When our son was born, my daughter was three. For times when we needed a stroller, I would just take a single for my daughter and put the baby in a sling. I used a wrap sling for when he was a newborn (up to about six weeks) and then a Hot Sling. We also have a ring sling that I use now that he's getting heavy (14 months). I used that for my daughter for trips to Disney and such until she was almost three.

He was so happy to sleep or peek out at people! And it was great for me to be able to run around after the three year old--I'm more "all terrain" than a stroller!

With the ages of your kids, you may even be able to use a sling for the sixteen month old and put the newborn in a stroller if you'd prefer to have the car seat with you.

So, we never used a double stroller! If you'd like pictures or website, feel free to contact me.

Congratulations!

Have you looked at the Kolcraft Contour? I had already purchased a jogging stroller (Expedition from Babies R Us) which has been a great stroller & lightweight but the Kolcraft looks really cool. It will hold an infant and the seats can change directions...

Best of Luck!
