I'm have baby #2 in March. My two kiddos will be 20 months apart. I'm looking for recommendations on a good double stroller. Tell me what you love about yours! I always thought I'd get a Sit & Stand, but my first is a very small child... too small for using Sit & stand. Our single stroller was a Combi, which we have loved. Can you recommend a great doulbe stroller for me?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone! I went out and tried a bunch of strollers and today, finally, was able to have my DH come with me so that he could give his opinion. I think we've landed on getting a Sit N Stand Plus with the removable back seat. It is compatible with our infant car seat, easy to manuever and eventually I can have the traditional sit n stand that I thought I'd have. =) Our runner up was Kolocraft Coutours, but we chose the Baby Trend becuase it was a little smaller, had an easier, more compact fold and was lighter. Thanks for all the recommendations!

I have a Jeep stroller (front & back) and it is pretty long. One thing I don't like is that the smaller seat is in the back and it is very hard to steer with a heavy kid in the front. I think I would look for a sit and stand or one that the bigger kid can sit in the back so it is easier to steer.

I would recommend the Sit & Stand Deluxe. The back seat can be used as a double stroller until the baby or toddler is older, and then the back converts to the sit and stand. We love it! We got it at target.com.

I just went through this when my daughter was born last March. My kids are 18 1/2 months apart so I needed a good double stroller. I went with the Graco Duo stroller. I like that it takes the car seat so you can keep the baby in the that and the toddler in the other seat. It compacts pretty well and was fairly inexpensive - about $100 at Target.
I hope this helps!

I liked my graco double stroller my carseat snapped onto the back seat and the older child could sit in the front. We ended up taking the tray off of the front as our children got older to make it easier to put the older child in. It does snap on and off so you can reattach it to hold snacks if needed. It has held up for at least 6 years and is still in good working condition.

Drawbacks are its size it is fairly large and takes up a lot of space in the trunk or back of your van.

My two are 19 monhts apart. I have a Graco tandem stroller (front/back), which was nice, because the infant carrier seat fit in the back until the baby could sit up. It's bulky and heavy, but you can't get away from that much. You need a big car to carry it. I mostly used it to go walking in the neighborhood and going to the mall. When my youngest was nine months I bought a Jeep side by side umbrella type stroller. This was great for traveling, lighter and fit in the car easier. It doesn't have a basket though. I found the first stroller used and Once Upon a Child for $40, so I didn't mind buying another one.

I have a McClaren side by side stroller. I love it. It's about 25 lbs and it has baskets. It's great for shopping. The steering isn't as great as our other graco duo glider but it's light. When you are pregnant it is helpful bc it's lighter than most strollers. We travel with the McClaren more than the graco.

We had a Graco Front/back stroller and hated it. It was so hard to push and we were constantly running into things. We now have a Combi Twin Sport that we love! Our carrier, a Graco, sits deeply and securely into it. It fits anywhere we've ever tried to take it except some older buildings that aren't up to code. It fits in handicapped bathroom stalls and changing rooms, and I've never had a problem in a store with it fitting in the aisles like I did the other. If you already have a Combi, you already know the down sides to it. If the Combi is a bit more than you're wanting to spend, Jeep makes one almost as narrow, but with no storage bin that a friend of mine really likes. Congratulations!

Just be sure to test it out first!! We tried an older sit and stand and the wheels were smaller and it was horrible to push and turn! We ended up with a Graco Duo Glider and I loved it! The wheels were larger and it was easy to maneuver, and our carrier fit perfectly. My kiddos are 18 months apart, but now 6 & 7.

I personally have found the Graco Duo Glider to be very hard to maneuver and I HATE it!

My preference would be the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem. It is very easy to maneuver. The seats are cool because you can face them both forward, back, or facing each other, or back to back. So if you have kids that like to play together, or you need to keep them separate, whatever works for your family. I love having options! It also has an infant car seat attachment, so you won't have to take your newborn out of their carseat.

Another options would be the Phil & Ted's inline stroller. I have always wanted to buy this one, but it is too pricey for me. It looks light-weight, compact, yet comfortable. I love the design of it, as it can be used as a single stroller, but then has an attachment for a child to sit in the back, to turn it into a double tandem. It also has a carseat adapter.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I like this side by side stroller. My kids like sitting next to each other. No one wants to sit in back. It's lightweight. It folds up compactly. It's the narrowest side by side I've found. I've never met a door I couldn't get through. and it's inexpensive. The wheels are big and don't go flat. It's taller than a normal umbrella stroller. I just slip the diaper bag over the handles and go.

I got it when my youngest were 18 months apart. Sometimes the older kid liked to push the stroller instead of riding until he got tired. It was nice because we'd each have our own handles to hold onto. Now I use it for my twins.

I also have a graco front/back stroller that I use when I need to carry more stuff.

Sit and stand has a model that has a place for two small ones to sit in a seat. My girls are 16 months apart 3 and 16 months. We have # 3 due in about 4 weeks and will be 18 months apart from the youngest. The double seated sit and stand is what I am going to look into. That way it will fit all three. Of all the strollers I have researched that one seems to be the best for the money.

I have the Combi twin savvy lx and LOVE it. It folds up to the size of a golf bag, the seats recline and there's inserts that can be attached to make it such that an infants legs don't stick out (if you don't use your car seat - we didn't because it doesn't fit two car seats and I have twins), it turns on a dime, it's no wider than a wheel chair so it fits anywhere that's ADA compliant. It's the best stroller ever. I also love that the handle bar goes all the way across - some don't and I find that strange. You can use the Skip Hop double stroller twin diaper bag and it safely attaches to the stroller. There's not a ton of space for bags, etc., underneath but I've found it's plenty for my needs - especially with the diaper bag attached.

This stroller came highly recommended from a friend of mine that used it with her twins until they no longer needed a stroller - it was the only stroller she ever needed and lasted great. I've used it almost 10 months and have loved every minute of it. The other day we were in Costco with the twins in the stroller, when they got sick of their stroller we folded it up, put it under the cart, put the babies in the seats in the cart and continued shopping. How many double strollers can easily fit under a shopping cart?? It's so great!

R.,

We have a Baby Trend Sit-n-stand plus. Our first born (20 months) is small too and sits comfortably in it while our 2 month old rides in the other seat. It is an ok stroller (our first was also a Baby Trend so that is why we went with this same brand). We call it "The Cadillac" because it is so long. It drives well and can even go over curbs. I really enjoy the awning for the back seat (the one closest to the handles and to the person pushing it) because it shields my daughter even with this low winter afternoon sun. It also works well in Fort Collins because we seem to have narrow sidewalks here. All in all it seems to be a good stroller.

I have a Phil and Teds Sport stroller which is pricey but it isn't super long or hard to maneuver at all. It comes with the option of having a second seat, which I'm sure won't fit your needs at first, but is a great stroller for kids closer in age. I love it because I can't stand how long other doubles are and this one is just great with the different seat options. Just let me know if you have any questions about it. I have 2 baby boys that are a year apart (16mths & 4mths) so I had to buy a double stroller. We have the Contours stroller and it has been great. Pros: large storage basket underneath, has a neat design, comes with 2 chairs plus car seat holder. Cons: You have to attach/detach seats every time you use it. Although, this isn't hard to do---just takes another second. Just make sure you have room in your trunk...it's a little tricky fitting it in along with groceries. If you have an SUV then it will fit fine. Remember all double strollers are going to be big. This one can be found at Babies R Us for $199.

We have had a Graco Duo Glider for 7 years (bought it when we had 2 kids, we now have 7), and it has held up unbelievably well! It still is like new (minus some fading) despite numerous trips (jammed in the car or checked on a plane), hundreds of miles of walks in all kinds of weather, in all sorts of places. We have had to buy three new umbrella strollers over those years, but have never even had to think about replacing our big stroller! To be honest, I found myself hoping that it would finally die so I can get a new one! : ) When we buy again it will absolutely be another Graco.
