Hi! I have a 5 week old infant and a 4 year old and have decided that a double stroller will be necessary for me to keep my sanity and keep tabs on my very active 4 year old! :) My 4 year old is 37 pounds and I would prefer a front-to-back double stroller that holds a Chicco infant seat as well. Most of the double strollers I see say the weight limit is 40 lbs. I don't plan on using it forever, so not trying to spend tons of money, but would love recommendations from people! Also, if anyone is in the Chicago area and looking to part with or sell one let me know. Thanks for the advice - I just don't want to make the wrong decision on a large purchase.

What can I do next?

I would just get a sit and stand. Older kids seem to like them and they aren't expensive.

What about those boards that attach to the stroller? I've seen them around on websites and at the Land of Nod outlet. Might be an option and could possibly work with your current stroller.

I know this is not what you are asking for, but I use a Maclaren side by side stroller and I LOVE it.

My children are three and 18 months and I have been using it since my daughter was @ 6 months. Before that time, if I took the kids by myself, I carried her in a sling and put him in the stroller.

Each side reclines so a little baby can lay on his/her back and sleep.

It has a five point harness I can strap my jack rabbit son into.

Its very light, and easy to fold up and put into the trunk.

I thought it woudl be a problem not having something that would accomodate the infant seat, but it never was.

I highly recommend it - also, I bought mine off of craigslist for $75. Completely worth the money, even if you buy new.

I have a Graco Quattro Tour Duo Stroller. I LOVE it. It is bulky, but there is so much space, and considering how bulky it is, it maneuvers pretty well. The plain Duo version is less expensive, so that may be the route you want to go, but as far as strollers go, it is one of the one front-to-back strollers that is pretty good.

Another thought I had for you was a sit-n-stand stroller. Your son could still sit when he is tired, but it isn't a true double stroller. Just a thought... :)

Personally, too old for a stroller. My 3 yo must hold on to the stroller when
we are out and let me tell you about active. If we are in a place that is not
crowded he is allowed to let go but stays next to me. Never used a double
stroller. Seemed like a waste of money. Now the new baby is due in Dec.
so that means, a newborn, 17 month old and almost 4 yo. I may have to
get a double.

I have a Mia Moda Compagno stroller, which is a sit & stand type stroller. My kids are almost 3 and 6 weeks. It will accommodate any type of infant carrier. My 3 year old was "too big" for a "baby" stroller so she loves that she can stand to ride along or even sit on the bench seat when she gets tired. I believe the weight limit is 100# total.
