Door County

I am thinking of doing a trip from Chicago to Door County.
It would be just adults (3) and possibly a 12 year old. No
little children.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay and what to do there?
I was thinking a cabin or condo versus a hotel.
This would be the last week of August.
Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

We went in May and loved it!

We stayed in Fish Creek. I would stay there again or more up north.

I would personally go for a Cabin or Condo. It can get pretty expensive eating out and the food is a lot higher out there. We ended up buying groceries in Green Bay and put the cold stuff in a cooler.

I would recommend hiking at one of the State Parks, especially any near a bluff. Peninsula State Park has a trail called Eagle Bluff. It was a fantastic hike with an amazing view.

This website helped me out a lot.

We go (through) Door County every summer, on our way to Washington Island. There's a ferry that will take passengers and/or their vehicles to the island. Once there, you can bike, drive or get the cherry train to take you anywhere you want to go. The Albatross has the BEST burgers and there's a beach that is all super smooth rocks about the size of golf balls up to baseballs. People aren't allowed to take them, anymore, because they were actually causing a noticable decrease in the layers! The rocks are so pretty. It's called School House Beach. Because my in-laws have a place there, we do a lot of fishing, Jet skiing and cook-outs, but the island is beautiful and I swear our bloodpressure drops about 20 points every time we go. Wish I had more on Door County, the peninsula, but if you are looking for things to do, check it out. I'm sure it's on the Door County website. Good luck and have fun!!!

Fish Creek is a nice area. There is a main street with shops and restaurants. It is near a state park. You can rent bikes and ride the trails through the park. There is a nice beach near the trails that you can stop at as well. My husband and I did this before we had kids and had a lot of fun.
