I am 32 years old. I have two kids one is 12 and one is 13. I was supposed to have a full tubal ligation but all the doctor did was stapled me. I have been feeling nauseous and tired and havent had my period for over a month and a half. Should I be concerned? Plus it doesn't help now that the doctor is no longer a practicing ob he killed a newborn and a mom somehow I dont know how. I do have unprotected sex with my fiance. I have been with him for almost two years.

What can I do next?

You could stop at a dollar store or a walmart and pick up a pregnancy test for about a dollar. I
The results of the test will tell you if you are pregnant or not.
You should call your Dr and discuss this matter with them though.. They know your history and know you

Well - you could be peri-menopausal .. you don't say how old you are, but my friends are I all finding ourselves irregular and some of us have very long cycles at this point. You may be anemic.

I don't get the staples part either. I had staples with my C-section. Is that what you are referring to? I don't know how that relates to have tubal ligation. Can you elaborate?

I've never personally known anyone who had a tubal ligation fail. I've never heard of anyone who knew of a person having it fail - so my personal feeling is the chances would be very small.

If it was me, I'd just go get a test - so you wouldn't have to worry. Then I'd go make an appointment to find out why I feel nauseous, tired, and why my cycle is delayed. I'd keep a log and take that in at my next appointment (keep track of when you ovulate, and go back a few months). Are you taking vitamins (I take a women's multi for my age group) and eating well? that sort of thing. Getting enough sleep? Etc.

Best to you

When in doubt have your doctor check it out.
There are many things that could upset your hormones besides pregnancy - but pregnancy it might be.
A doctor will help you figure it out.

Additional:
At one point she said she was 44.
It's gone now.

Go get a cheap test to rule out. If negative make an apt to get hormones checked and checked to make sure nothing else is wrong. If positive make an apt for prenatal

Test. If you want options and would prefer less invasive methods if the pregnancy is unwanted you must seek medication before 12 weeks, so don't wait. Even if the plan would be to keep the child there are vitamins and foods/activities to avoid to ensure health, the sooner you know the better either way.

I'm confused about what you mean about stapling you. Staples aren't normally a part of tubal ligations. Do you mean that he stapled your incision after a C-section?

You need to buy a pregnancy test. There are other things that can cause those symptoms, but the only way to know is to purchase a pregnancy test.

If you're not pregnant, then you really need to talk with an Ob/gyn to determine if you're still fertile. If you are, then you need to start using some type of protection.

Who told you the doctor "stapled" you? Who told you that you had something less than a "full tubal ligation"? That doesn't make sense. Staples in the incision, possibly. But the tubes are ligated or cauterized. Check your surgical records and discharge info. Talk to your doctor (the OB/GYN who did the procedure) or your primary care doctor to whom a copy of the records would have been sent. I've been in the OR for scores of tubal ligations and never saw staples used in an outpatient setting.

A very small percentage of tubal ligations fail. It's very rare, but it was in your consent form. However, there are other reasons for your symptoms as well. Take a pregnancy test, and if it's negative, wait a month and talk to your doctor about the periods. If you continue to be nauseated and tired, that could be a dozen other things, so talk to your primary care doctor.

One of my friends was hysterical because her hubby got snipped after their 2nd child and she 17 yrs later she didn't get her period and felt pregnant. 'He'll think I cheated on him and I would never do that' she cried. We finally talked her into going to the gyn and it was just a flux in hormones causing the issue. Not pregnant just funky hormones.

So don't worry yourself unnecessarily. Pee on a stick or go see the dr.

Welcome to mamapedia, C.

You don't say how old you are.
You've had unprotected sex?
Go to your doctor for a blood test. That's the best way to find out what's going on

I don't even know how to respond about a doctor stapling your tubes. Never heard of that.

Go to a reputable OB/GYN and get an examination and blood draw. Find out if you are pregnant or if you are going through menopause (you don't state how old you are).

a botched medical procedure, a bad doctor, careless sex and feeling poorly are all no biggie.

There are different methods of tubal ligation and perhaps the method the doctor performed on you is the spring clip or Hulca clip method. Yes, the clip could become compromised and yes, you could get pregnant. It is rare but it can happen. Go to your gynecologist to get tested or go buy a pregnancy test at the pharmacy.

Start with a pregnancy test. The doctor who did your tubal was an incompetent fool. Not only does that method fail often, he did not do the procedure to which you gave your consent. In any case, go see your GYN. If you are pregnant, see an attorney about a lawsuit against the fool who did that lazy tubal for malpractice and 18 years of support.
