Popsicles....we made homemade pedialyte ones, but ant type right now will help her get hydrated and feel a bit better
My almost 3yr old daughter at 3 am starting puking and did it 2 times before she stopped making a destruction of puke everywhere. Well as the day went on she is sleepy will drink a little not eat anything she also has a llow grade fever now 101. I gave her generic Tylenol but made no difference. I don't want to give her Ibuprofen b/c she won't eat and that is hard on the stomach. I can't get her to do pedialite. She won't drink it no matter what I try even syringe it. She just wants to sleep. I don't know what to do for her to get what ever this is out of her system. I will be glad to take any suggestions. Thank You. Oh I looked at her throat and no redness.
Thank You for all of the advise. I called the nurse on call for her Dr office she told me kids are not dehydrated only if they have diarrhea, not from throwing up. Also She really didn't have a fever. 101. was her temp rectally but she said it wasn't really a temp for anal. She is coming around no more puking(Thank God) and she is drinking and eating a little. So I think it was some bug b/c earlier she had a stomach ache. I did try my own solution of sugar and salt water even though a pharmacist out where I live looked at me like I was insane and that you can't substitute electrolytes. Plus she didn't understand why my daughter wouldn't drink Pedialyte. Which I know my kid and she won't no matter how you try. Sorry rambling there.

If she wants to sleep, I would let her sleep as long as she wants to. That's going to make her better. See if she'll take 7-up or sprite.
take her in to the doc to make sure she does not have any dehydration issues.
Did you contact your pediatrician? Will she take a Popsicle? Sips on water every 15 to 30 minutes? Does anything on her body hurt? I would definitely contact your pediatrician.
It sounds like a flu bug. She should keep hydrated.
It's always tough when our children are sick..but I'm glad to know that my pediatrician is on call. Good luck!
Maybe try gatorade? Crackers or toast?
My daughter was sick w/ the flu back in August and all she did was vomit and had major diarreah. I ended up taking her to the ER because she projectile puked roughly 10 times in an hour. And I was scared she was going to get dehydrated. She also wouldn't eat and barely drank and when she did it would come right back up. I offered her pedialyte and gatorade, just because I don't allow her to have pop/soda. I also gave her half of a regular tums, the ER said that was ok to do twice a day. After about a week and a half it was out of her system.
I hope she gets feeling better soon! It's never any fun having a sick child.
Same thing happened to my baby when she was 18 months. After the first few sips she was sick of pedialyte. To get her to take it we froze it. She thought it was dessert rather then medicine.
My 3rd of 3 has this right now. Since they all had it last year too, I didnt' even sweat the pedialyte or anything else. They didn't drink or eat ANYTHING, and I didn't give them any medicine. I just let them sleep. Finally after several hours they kept down a little water. It passed in less than 24 hours. Dont' worry about making her eat and drink and take medicine unless this goes on for days. If she has what we have, this will be gone in 24 hrs. Good luck, I sympathize I've been cleaning up puke for a week!
my boys would never drink pedialite. we give them gatorade when they are sick. there are many flavors so they don't get bored with it.
God bless!
Sprite, gatorade, even water with sugar and a pinch of salt, but if fever is still there you need to go your doctor.
hope she gets better
Give her popscicles.... or any kind of liquid she will drink.
She can get dehydrated and that is not good & dangerous.... watch for that.
BUT... when puking and sick like that, the body CANNOT take in a lot of liquids at one time, or they will throw up again. So, just a tablespoon of liquid at a time.... slowly and gradually, intermittently.
Look up symptoms of Dehydration, online....
Lethargy for example, can be a symptom of dehydration and of the illness...
Or try clear broth soups.... so she does not get lacking in body salts etc.
LET her sleep... she is sick.
Watch her and take her to the Doctor.
My 22 month old started doing that and I took him to the doc and they put in in the hospital they said it's going around so bad that 2 babies have past away from it. It's bad I thought he was just sick and didn't think anything of it but we are still in the hospital now and don't know when we are going home.. I would go get her looked at just to be on the safe side I'm glad I did.. If I would'nt have when I did he would have been in ICU right now is what they told me and it's not just in Oklahoma it's every where...
hi
umm try a bit of coconut water... I know that sounds odd.. BUT it's full of electrolytes which is very important when a child a dehydrated. .additionally, the fever won't subside as much when a person isn't properly hydrated. since she won't take much, at least if you can get some coconut water in her, that will help two problems.. lack of hydration and restoring electrolytes which in turn help you stay hydrated. you can buy a coconut (at a wholefoods) I live in the bayarea so we have many fruit fenders who sell them.. not sure if you do.. now, some don't like the taste of coconut milk... you could add some honey.. but not sure how that would be.. if you look on the internet, you ll find that many athletes use coconut water/milk... especially in south america.. it's believed to be more beneficial than water for hydration.. and there are nutrients in it..
I wish you the best
Try Gatorade or Gingerale .. I suggest talking to the Dr as she may have the flu.
You have gotten really good advice and both my kids had it at the same time!! Right before Christmas, had both puking in the toilet at the same time. CRAZY!!!! Found that a plastic tea pitcher works great if your child can't get to the toilet in time. It is tall enough to not splash out & has a good handle and real easy to pour out the nasty & rinse for the next go round!!
Best of luck and I really really feel for you.
Let her sleep, and freeze the pedialite, that stuff is nasty and much easier to take if it's frozen. And call the pediatrician or take her to the ER if you can't get her to take any liquids.
If she just started throwing up today, I would let her sleep and push the fluids after she gets the much needed rest she is trying to get. If she still isn't getting any fluids in her tomorrow morning then I would start to worry
Let her sleep but keep the liquids handy, she WILL get thirsty.
Popsicle's when all else fails.
Gingerale - stir it with a knife (I know sounds funny but more flat surface) until the fizz is gone. Ginger helps calm the stomach.
Sounds like the stomach bug going around. If you're really concerned get her over to the ER to be on the safe side. They can always give her some compazine (or similar drug) but it's usually an enema you'd have to give her at home - not easy with a 3 year old - been there done that.
